  1. Won't be long before the lack of maintainence becomes apparent!
  2. If they're not willing to absorb the aerobridge costs, why not offer both stairs and aerobridge boarding to passengers and let them choose? Offer the latter free for red carpet and hot seat passengers while also offering it to regular pax at an exorbitant price. Throw in a 50% discount for seniors/disabled. Brilliant!
  3. Can't see why CZ should be dragged into this. Yes, they marketed the flight as well but this was an MH operated flight that departed KUL.
  4. There are bound to be problems in any new terminal/airport, just a matter of how quickly they're resolved. Knowing MAHB....
  5. Wonder if there will be an airside transfer bus to the MTB...
  6. It's only achievable if both airports maintain their respective growth rates. SIN had a modest rate of only 5%, and if that picks up KUL will have a hard time catching up. I somehow think after the MH370 incident KUL's growth might be negatively affected. Not everyone is as supportive of MH as some of our members here. Hopefully the opening of KLIA2 (if and when that happens) means AirAsia can compensate with more room to expand.
  7. Just read a couple of articles on the criticism by the Chinese, and it made me sick. If their complaint is the misleading/contradicting info given by the Malaysian govt then it's fair enough. But to insinuate that Malaysia and its people are solely responsible for the plane's disappearance is just unacceptable. Now their celebrities even blasting their Malaysian counterparts! I never thought I'd endorse this, but here it goes anyway. 'Apa lagi cina mau?'
  8. Yes, but the value is horrible. High mileage requirements, in addition to the fuel surcharges don't make it worthwhile.
  9. Or if one has the time, flying a whole bunch of RM75 intra-peninsular hops in Y! Those promos seem to be more common than the J sales. IMO MH*S isn't worth going the extra mile for. (Pun not intended) The only potentially useful benefits I can think of are the tier bonus on miles earned through flying and J counter check-in. Perhaps some people might value the 5kg extra baggage allowance but the basic allowance is already very generous.
  10. Can't be positive, IMO. Some will stay clear of MH for a while. Paranoid ones will also think of KUL as a less-than-secure airport. I don't blame them, really. There will still be growth, just probably not at the phenomenal rate we saw last year.
  11. They've been talking about it way before MRO went missing
  12. Remember Swissair 111? The pilots would have had enough time to make a distress call.
  13. Honestly, KLIA security is a bit on the lax side. Several times my wallet was left in my pocket and it set off the metal detector. The officer did a quick pat down and when he got to my pocket, he just asked "dompet?", to which I replied "Ya" and off I went. The pat down is just a quick brush of hands to detect the most obvious hidden objects like a package wrapped around my torso. Nothing in comparison to the pat downs I've had in Australia or Switzerland. It could have been something hidden in my shoe, but not once have I had to remove them. Even in BKK, shoes must go through the scanner. Sure, there may be 2 checkpoints before one boards the plane, but the one right after immigration is pretty half hearted, IMO. Laptops/iPads stay in the bag, liquids are allowed pass if the officer is in a reasonably good mood ("habiskan air sebelum naik kapal terbang").
  14. They've already thought of an excuse for that. Apparently it was flying away from Malaysia and was "not considered a threat". OR, someone was sleeping on the job.
  15. Well, it's been over a month since I've sent my missing miles claim for a CX flight via email and I've heard nothing from them. Not even an acknowledgement email. No other airline has taken more than 2 weeks to respond to such claims. Absolutely ridiculous!
  16. The vast majority of LCC flights are operated by narrowbodies. The current KLIA isn't designed for that.
  17. I hope he knows having a young fleet doesn't translate into profits.
  18. Full flights do not mean high yields, so having a plane packed with passengers doesn't necessarily mean it's very profitable. Regardless. I'm sure they won't cut LHR. If they can't make LHR work they're better off shutting down.
  19. Sounds like MH doesn't have enough $ to continue their subscription...
  20. Now if only MH could turn those numbers into profit...
