This happened at a small Californian airport when a private jet carrying US racing boss Jack Roush came in for landing. But the wing dipped and the aircraft veered off the runway towards a group of photographers. Everyone survived.

From the video footage, you can see that the pilot made sure the jet was pointed at safe direction away from spectators just before ejecting...

The 30-40cm probably refers to tree diameter...crash site's surrounding trees as per photo look about that kind of diameter.
