  1. "Not impressed that first class passengers get off before premium economy during an emergency.” Hehe she actually said premium economy and not economy. She's expecting too much from "premium" I think!
  2. now, that is much better. I always went to the Air NZ lounge next door instead...
  3. Not sure if it is compulsory or not. - I have arrived at GRU maybe 8 times in the last 2 years, and this question was never asked. - If you go to say, Colombia first, and then board a flight to GRU, then this question seems to be quite normal at check-in! - I have crossed the Argentina/Brazil border by road, no one cared... immigration at GRU is so relaxed that if you arrive on business without a visa, they very kindly change your "purpose of visit" to "vacation" and let you in. (Malaysians get visa free entry for vacation only but not for business). I know that for SQ, only those who have had the jab can work on the GRU route.
  4. isn't flying with 3 engines more or less the same as flying with only 1 engine? I mean, it is only 1 engine away from disaster?
  5. even in ZRH you now need to walk along this curving path all through the duty free shop at arrivals, and you also end up in the middle of the duty free shop when you pass through security at departure.
  6. If they want to speed up boarding, they should assign seats and use aerobridge to board. Once you get people walking on aprons it is hard to ensure that people board in proper order, causing congestion. So far my experience with slow walkers vs fast walkers, etc. - I think aerobridge is simply more orderly and therefore faster.
  7. Yeah, whenever I have visitors from Malaysia who come to Europe for a backpacking trip... I tell them to try and keep the blanket they get on the way here because it is very useful for overnight train rides etc.
  8. About time. Swiss have 773ER on order, but do not fly them already.
  9. happened to me once on LX. Out of water halfway through a long haul. Cannot remember which route.
  10. whoa, you are going to beat me in number of flights pretty soon. I do a fair bit more long haul though...
  11. I am pretty sure I got my miles NRT-KUL even though I then skipped the KUL-SIN flight.
  12. The MRT one I have a bit more sympathy. For heathrow... , the airport has been there for a number of generations. Most people who live in those areas right now moved there when the airport was already there.
  13. I have no sympathy for those Nimbys. They bought houses there cheap because the airport is nearby and then they complain about it.
  14. ok, that J class seat, I don't see anything new, except that it is made to look a bit more futuristic. However, apparently it offers more seating positions. Frankly, the current seats have no comfortable seating position, so if these new seats can cradle the passenger properly, then it would be a big improvement.
  15. I cannot say for sure, but from my experience booking separate tickets, as long as these are mainline carriers and not budget carriers, you can always check your bags all the way through. About getting the boarding passes, I also don't think this should be a problem because all the flights are within half a day of each other.
  16. I was surprised to see 9V-SKC in ZRH last week. As far as I know, this one has Y seats in the upper deck. Wonder if it was just a seasonal C class downgrade?
  17. I find the discussion on One World lounge access here very amusing. Look at SQ... they have a separate lounge for second class Star Gold members... and they don't give a damn... As for CX... I have had a few flights with them but none was outstanding. Good, but there wasn't that special feeling like being on MH or SQ. HK hub is far superior though...
  18. hmm I just left Sao Paulo on 2nd Feb. , missed that! GRU is quite a 777 hub. So many of them in the mornings and afternoon - AF, KL, Alitalia, AA, Delta, UA, Qatar, Emirates, SQ and of course, TAM.
  19. MH should come back to Zurich. Since MH pulled out, SQ upgraded first to double daily 77W and then daily A380, Emirates double daily, qatar daily, Swiss will launch daily to SIN next May, etc. etc. There is a lot of traffic going towards Asia/Australia from Zurich....
  20. I never realized that laptop bag can be brought separately. As far as I am concerned, 1 bag means 1 bag. This is how it is with most European airlines...
  21. Some years ago, Tun Dr. M. and his entourage to South America in a MH DC-10 (I think) diverted to the Easter islands to pick up a sick fisherman. Anyone remember that?
