  1. Regional jet is idea for SZB. To protect KUL, gomen insisted turboprop for SZB.
  2. Manchester United and Malaysia Airlines have announced a multi-year partnership which will see the award-winning airline become the club’s official commercial airline. As an established and respected name in global aviation, Malaysia Airlines prides itself on representing Malaysia and providing best-in-class customised experiences for its passengers, reflecting the Malaysian culture of a welcoming and hospitable service. The partnership was announced by Malaysia Airlines’ Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group, Izham Ismail, at a major industry trade fair in Kuala Lumpur. To celebrate the announcement, former Manchester United defenders Patrice Evra and Wes Brown flew to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event, to share their experiences of travelling the world as both players and ambassadors for the club. https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/man-utd-announce-partnership-with-malaysia-airlines Guess a number of mas top management and bod are man u ardent fans.
  3. Mas has a record of over promised and under delivered. Whether could sustain is another matter.
  4. Don't think anyone is proud or happy with how bus queue is organised at satellite terminal.
  5. PRC and Korean tourists to BKI are mostly holiday makers and seasonal. PRC airlines often use redeye flight to test the market/route. If load is justified, they may move to day time.
  6. PSC is a source of income for MAHB and MAHB doesn't depend solely on PSC. PSC at sin is higher but few pax complaint it is expensive because most are happy with their experience. MAHB management is still in rent seeker mentality, don't understand what frequent travellers want. Given most pax profile, not sure how feasible are Jamie Oliver and Hard Rock cafe restaurant at T1.
  7. City airports catered mostly for business travellers, who are willing to pay premium for shorter travelling time to city or home e.g ticket price to HND, LCY, SHA, etc is generally higher. To protect KUL volume and placing the cart in front of the horse, turboprop is deployed in SZB. What business travellers look for is frequency. If 50 to 70 pax regional jets is deployed, SZB O&D volume to SIN, PEN, BKI, KCH, KBR, CGK, BKK, etc could be higher than KUL.
  8. TR regional jets will likely developed to feed SQ connection to/from Australia, EU, etc like AF, LH, KL in EUR. Once TR reached this stage, MH could forget to return to EUR outside LHR, and will be hammered on AUS routes.
  9. Mahb is maximizing revenue rather than giving public service e.g charging grab driver.
  10. This is a major issue for the landlord to compete with tenants; landlord could choose the best location for itself. Due to monopoly mentality, service, choice and price is often not the best.
  11. It seems fewer prc travel overseas. One could get substantial discounted j class tickets to EUR, north America , etc on some sales channel. Chinese airlines ey ticket price ex-kul to north Asia could be similar or cheaper than D7. CZ widebody PTV, etc hardware is newer and superior than MH 330. The bar at MH lounge satellite terminal only opens from 10am. Couldn't have espresso martini for breakfast 😔
  12. The emergence of low-cost carriers has not contributed to Malaysia Airlines’ decline, Malaysia Aviation Group managing director Izham Ismail said. Rather, he blamed it on the 1972 decision by the Malaysian and Singapore governments to break up Malaysia-Singapore Airlines, into Malaysian Airline System or MAS (as it was known then) and Singapore Airlines. https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2024/02/27/move-to-split-up-malaysia-singapore-airlines-caused-mass-decline-says-izham/ He is unfit for the job.
  13. Find aero darat check in staffs are either poorly trained or don't take pride in their job. Unlike check in staffs of other airport and airlines; although they are idling, they don't signal next pax to come forward. It seems they are competing among themselves to ignore pax or keep idling the longest.
  14. Given ak track record on debts repayment in the last few years. It is not easy for find lenders willing to offer cheap interest rate, less stringent terms and conditions.
  15. Current price of saf (sustainable aviation fuels) is more than double of conventional jet fuel. EU require 5% of jet fuel use to be saf by 2030.
  16. Was on MH to bkk recently; they offered 3 choices of meal exclude vegetarian, served main course, cake, fruit and bun on tray, and serving 100% juice. In mh regional lounge, they have egg station, smoked salmon, beef rendang, etc for breakfast. A great improvement from brahim days.
  17. Recycled cooking oil and renewable oil for jet fuel is expensive to produce. Airlines trial it for pr purpose. Unless is mandated by law, few airlines will use it fully.
  18. Except PRC, USA, AUS, JPN, etc few airlines could depend mostly on domestic market. I heard yield has dropped, it would be a challenge for MH to maintain profit like in 2023. If include KUL-DXB, IST, etc, there is fairly substantial volume from KUL to EUR.
  19. https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/01/12/anwar-conveys-to-germany-malaysia039s-firm-stance-condemnation-of-israeli-regime At meeting with german mofa; it seems gaza and hamas was more important to pmx than trade. doubt lh was on the agenda.
  20. Given number of EK, QR, TK, EY, SQ and TG daily flights from KUL, demand ex-KUL to EU is not small and sustainable. If MH could feed AUS, Indon, etc pax to EU, daily flight to CDG, FRA, AMS, etc on 788 size aircraft is feasible and sustainable. With multiple daily flight from KUL, CZ ticket price to Japan e.g KUL-HND, etc is very competitive. Understand J class ticket on CZ and MU to N. American and Europe before summer months is very affordable.
  21. Guess QF, AF, etc remembered MH relationship with UA.
  22. Con-sultan is often appointed to justify management unpopular decision or policy. Blame would be on con-sultan rather than the management.
  23. Neither mas shareholders, bod or management have vision or commitment beyond 5 years horizon. What need to be done is political unacceptable. Hence, unlikely to change or improve anytime soon.
  24. Not sure many pax like to take chances.
  25. 80% PLF should be slightly below their breakeven point.
