The A380 will be added to flights EK384 and EK385 from the start of October, making Hong Kong the airline’s 11th A380 destination. Emirates’ other daily non-stop service between Dubai and Hong Kong will continue to be operated with Boeing 777 aircraft. Emirates will be the second carrier to regularly serve Hong Kong with the superjumbo, with Singapore Airlines having commenced A380 services to the destination in July last year (see online news June 11, 2009). Emirates will also commence A380 flights to Manchester on September 1, and will recommence flights to New York with the superjumbo on October 31. I won't be at all surprise if MAHB offers EK incentives to bring in their A380.

I think rather than standing airlines will install bum rest with some kind of harnesses which I believe will still be deemed mandatory by aviation authorities. However, I'm interested to find out how airlines / manufacturers intend to propose storage of hand luggage because surely they will have to remove the overhead compartments if this so-called "standing-only" option is introduced.

If the aircraft is going to be based in Singapore, chances are it will be 3K.

I hope DCA changes its ruling on "the minimum academic qualification which is 5 credits at SPM level or equivalent inclusive of credit in Mathematics, English and a Sciences subjects". There are Malaysian pilots who did not fulfill this criteria but are qualified pilots (myself included), and just because of this ruling in place, we cannot go back and fly in our homeland. I have a Bachelors degree, a Masters degree, and now, JAA CPL/IR, but this rule stops me from having my licence converted. Even Singapore and Hong Kong has done away with this rule. It's such a pity because it means I will miss out on flying opportunities in Malaysia.

Hi Charbulb - Doing the course in Malaysia is a bit troublesome. Must first obtain DCA approval letter to do the course??? I decided to heck that rule and I'm now doing my flying course in Australia. Do the course outside Malaysia if possible.
