  1. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/5/15/nation/6266673&sec=nation Saturday May 15, 2010 Boeing 737 lands in Kuching on one engine KUCHING: A Boeing 737 carrying 122 passengers landed safely at the Kuching International Airport despite encountering partial engine failure. The flight from Kuala Lumpur reportedly landed at 9.40pm as scheduled on Thursday. It was learnt that the left engine had malfunctioned as the aircraft was about to land. Sources said the pilot switched off the malfunctioning engine and landed the plane safely. Airline staff and airport security at the airport refused to comment on the incident and said there were no delays of flights that evening.
  2. Its not really that "international" Only international flights it have are D7 and flights to NZ.
  3. The plane won't be flying into a thunderstorm in the first place more so to dump fuel INSIDE a thunderstorm.
  4. I think they probably meant "busted minimum radar altitudes"......sounds like altitude bust.
  5. Maybe the ATR could T/o with less than 1000m.....STOL style
  6. Berjaya Air usually bring passengers who also stay in their hotels. Sort of a package thing. Went with Berjaya to Redang on the atr last year. Seats almost full and hotel was good.
  7. It'll be wonderful to have a new plane and good service.
  8. aiay sayang lah no more biggest 777 operator in the world.....Used to operate to almost all SQ destination, boy that was fun.
  9. As u said he is probably few miles form penang and I assume thats pretty near. Obviously the crew needed more time than they had so thus to delay the landing. Aiman, for eng out landing and a normal landing are 2 diff items all together. The crew probably had to reconfigure the a/c for single engine, secure the damage engine if any etc, probably recalculate vrefssss.....Thats what I think they would need more time. thus the delay in landing. However, pardon me, I'm not familiar with the 734.
  10. and why is SFO in even in the list? oh dear
  11. DOnt think the child was in control at anytime. The Daddy ATC just asked the child to probably repeat what he said. Daddy was still the ATCO incharge.Very funny indeed and whats the harm with a little bit of humour anyway.. However, we do live in a paranoid world nowadays. These are 2 separate cases. Aeroflot Daddy was not in control. Relax man, have a little sense of humour
  12. Maybe because the airlines prefer to screen and select the people they want to be their cadets rather than the Flying school screening and selects for them. Butseriously, at this moment, there's a surplus of pilots all over the world not only Malaysia Simple calculation, 4 flying schools vs 2 major airlines dont add up. Also, the GA or corporate flying scene in Malaysia arent emplyoying many pilots.
  13. Dont the 737 that they flew has anything about runway disagree thingy that trigger warning of some sort?
  14. Purchased tix from firefly using firefox no problems encountered.
  15. Don't understand you point. But that seems to be a cart at the wrong place. Btw, FO wouldn't have seen it. Its not like they have a rear view mirror.
  16. Sad sad sad!!!!! Hope SQ will make a return when times a better.

  19. Hi guys, what callsign is air force one? Apparently I was flying ahead of it last night into china but didnt know its Obama.
  20. 2km should be enough I suppose for such flights. They are probably quite light when the 320s reach Ipoh so landing wouldn't be much of an issue unless its tankering. T/o wise, they won't be close to MTOW with the amount of fuel they bring to Singapore. Again, got project got spending.
  21. Well, they reacted to too low gear and went around. Some credits to them there I suppose.
