  1. Regarding AirAsia X (D7) offering free seats for 24 hours booking time 9-10 June 2010 (Travel period on 11 Oct - 14 Nov 2010), I think not only australians getting mad but my self a bit disappointed too. I had try searched all date from 11 Oct - 14 Nov for route KUL-TSN-KUL and KUL-PER-KUL start earlier morning 9 June after 12.01AM, but i didn't find any free seats. I' already clear my laptop IE cache and refresh again but still not found free seats. Feedup about these thing, i go sleep and wokeup again on 5 AM but still the same results, didn't find any free seats available. Then i try again on late evening around 5 PM 9 June and finally i found free seats available on date 13 Nov but only one way TSN-KUL. I'm also found free seats for one way PER-KUL on date 11 Nov. I bit wierd because i had try on ealier morning but didn't find any free seats on 13 Nov (TSN-KUL) and 11 Nov (PER-KUL). So im very curious, it's system still not fully ready for customer to start search earlier morning or free seats offered very limited?

  4. KUALA TERENGGANU, May 26 (Bernama) -- A Diamond 40 light aircraft made an emergency landing at Pantai Tok Jembal here after its engine stalled in mid-air, 3,000 metres above the ground. Trainee pilot Shafiq Mohd Kamil, 19, and flight trainer Naing Myint Khine, 46, of Asia Pacific Flight Training in Kota Baharu, Kelantan, were uninjured in the 10.45am incident. Shafiq Haizam said he and his Myanmar national trainer took off from Kota Baharu to Sultan Mahmud Airport, here, at 8.11am for a routine training. "We turned back to Kota Baharu after arriving at the airport here. However, when we were flying over Bukit Rakit at the height of 3,000 metres, the engine suddenly stalled. I tried to restart it but could not. "The flight trainer then took over the controls and brought it to land at Pantai Tok Jembal," he told reporters at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital here Wednesday. He said that it was his first encounter with such experience and said that he was grateful to be safe. The experience would not hamper his spirit in pursuing his dream to become a pilot, he added. Shafiq Haizam has six more months to go before completing the two-year course. A check at the scene found that the aircraft was intact with no serious damage visible. Several firemen, police personnel and Asia Pacific Flight Training staff were also at the scene. -- BERNAMA Source : http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsindex.php?id=501224 Photo : By Utusan (M) Berhad.

WORLD'S BEST ECONOMY CLASS 1.MALAYSIA AIRLINES 2.QATAR AIRWAYS 3.SINGAPORE AIRLINES © Skytrax All rights reserved Malaysia Airlines won 2 awards, the "Staff Service Excellence for Asia" and "World's Best Economy Class" at the 2010 World Airline Awards in Hamburg. The event saw more than 40 airlines from around the world receiving their awards from Skytrax, the organizer of the awards. The winners were selected by some 18 million air travellers from 100 different nationalities in a 10 month survey, between July 2009 and April 2010. Capt Azharuddin Osman (left) Malaysia Airlines Director of Operations, collects the award from Mr Edward Plaisted of Skytrax at the ceremony in Hamburg Skytrax Chairman, Mr Edward Plaisted said, "The "Staff Service Excellence Award for Asia" is an excellent award for Malaysia Airlines. This replaces the Cabin Staff category awards of earlier years, and represents a much wider achievement. The Service Excellence Award recognizes airlines that deliver the highest standards of staff service not only onboard the flight, but also at the home base airport. Malaysia Airlines also won the "World's Best Economy Class" award, reflecting the quality of product and service delivered to customers. The World Airline Awards are known as 'The Passenger's Choice', underlining the fact that Malaysia Airlines are clearly satisfying the hardest critics - their customers." Malaysia Airlines Managing Director/ CEO, Tengku Dato' Azmil Zahruddin said, "I am proud of the MAS team's outstanding performance. They have demonstrated the best of Malaysian hospitality by being natural, spontaneous, determined and willing to our guests. "Throughout the years, we have worked hard to improve our service delivery as part of our airline- wide initiative to enhance customer experience. I am delighted that our efforts have been recognized by our customers. We will continuously build on our culture of putting our guests first. This will complement our fleet replacement programme which will allow customers to enjoy the latest aircraft which will be delivered beginning October this year." The World Airline Awards were established 1999 by Skytrax, the specialist research advisor to the air transport industry. The awards are based on the annual World Airline Survey. The 2009/2010 Survey included over 200 airlines, from the largest international airlines to domestic carriers, throughout the world. The survey measures over 38 different items of customer satisfaction for each airline's product and service standards. Assessing the typical customer experience across airport and onboard environments - from check-in to boarding, while onboard, the customers rate seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food and beverages, inflight entertainment and many aspects of staff service. 10. Another Extension Likely For KKIA Upgrading Project KOTA KINABALU, April 30 (Bernama) -- With less than a month to go and only 86 per cent completed, upgrading works for the runway of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) is likely to face a snag. This would be in the form of a further delay and the need for another extension of time. Previously, upgrading works were also delayed due to various reasons, said Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri. "Extension of time (EOT) should expire by May...I don't know if the contractor would be given another extension, depends on the project management consultant (KLIA Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd), they will make the recommendation based on their judgement before submitting to the transport ministry. "If the ministry is satisfied and the request for another EOT is legitimate, then only can it be given," he told reporters after a meeting on pirated taxis with related agencies here on Friday. Abdul Rahim said this when asked to comment on the progress of Package 2 -- the airport's expansion project comprising the runway and other supporting facilities element. He said the three main reasons given were delay in obtaining sites from land owners involved, environmental issues such as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report on reclamation works that might affect Petagas River there, and charter flights coming in even after midnight. "We are also allowing charter flights to come, especially from midnight to 6am, when usually this is the time you close the runway so the contractor could really work on it...this gives the contractor reason to get extension of time again. "That's why we decided in last month's meeting which included the state tourism, that we will have a suspension of charter flights during that period and it will take effect until the completion of the runway. We do not want any more excuses," he added. When contacted, KLIA Consultancy Services project manager Mohd Fadhil Ramli said the dateline of the latest EOT is on May 19, and confirmed that another EOT application was made by the contractor, Global Upline Sdn Bhd. "However, it is still on the ministry's consideration whether or not it will be approved," he said, declining to disclose the period of extension requested. This would be the third request for time extension, where the original timeline for Package 2 completion was April last year. Meanwhile, Abdul Rahim said Package 1 (redevelopment of KKIA Terminal building) was 99.8 per cent completed and the contractor, WCT Sdn Bhd, was expected to make a handover to Malaysia Airports Bhd soon. -- BERNAMA Source : http://www.bernama.com.my/bernama/v5/newsgeneral.php?id=494763

  14. Passenger plane skids off runway in Indonesia MANOKWARI, Indonesia (AFP) - – A jet carrying about 100 passengers skidded off the runway into a shallow river as it landed in Indonesia on Tuesday, injuring some 20 people, officials said. The Merpati airline Boeing 737 broke into pieces as it bounced off the tarmac at Rendani domestic airport in Manokwari, West Papua, director general of civil aviation Herry Bhakti Singayuda told AFP. "It skidded off the runway and part of its body landed in a river," he said, referring to a shallow waterway about 200 metres (600 feet) from the runway. "All 103 passengers and six crew members are safe. Some are injured. They have been rushed to hospital." Bad weather including heavy rain and fog were suspected of playing a part in the crash, he said, although expert investigators had yet to arrive at the scene. Manokwari Hospital emergency unit nurse Benget Hutagalung said "about 20" people had been brought in with shattered limbs and head injuries. Witnesses said the left wing broke off as the plane hurtled into trees at the end of the runway. The body of the plane came to rest with the tail section in the river and the cockpit almost sheered off. The plane was flying a domestic route from Sorong, also in West Papua province, to Manokwari, a distance of about 340 kilometres (210 miles). Transport ministry experts from the capital Jakarta were on their way to the rugged province in the far east of the country to investigate the crash, an official said. The vast archipelago of Indonesia relies heavily on air transport but has one of Asia's worst air safety records.
