  1. Several Singapore Airlines (SIA) cabin crew members have landed in hot soup after posting ”inappropriate” work-related messages on their personal Facebook accounts. According to The Straits Times, SIA have served warning letters to those who have been caught sharing information such as details of duty roster, their allowances and grievances with customers on board the planes. It also include posting messages on their unhappiness with peers and superiors. One crew member even talked about his or her experience assisting at a friend’s shop. On one Facebook account checked by AFP, a woman calling herself an SIA flight attendant said she was “going to be upset” if she was called up for “lousy” flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Hong Kong on Airbus A380 super-jumbos. “No fair… roster no good again… no fair,” said another account. “So many flights.. So little Off Days.. I’m going crazy…” a third Facebook user remarked. Although SIA did not implement a total Facebook ban, a spokesman confirmed that action has been taken against those caught for “inappropriate usage of social media.” She said, “We do not have a policy which prohibits staff from participating in social media… But our policy is clear that they must not comment on work matters about business or customers.” “This is to protect proprietary information as well as the privacy of other staff and our customers”, she added. Many other companies, including government ministries, have guidelines in place on the use of social media. A spokesman for the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) said, “Civil servants are allowed to participate in any media to share personal experiences on their hobbies, et cetera, that are not related to work if they do so responsibly in their own time and personal capacity.” Steve Durbin, vice-president of sales and marketing at Information Security Forum told The Straits Times that the prevalence of social media and the widespread use by staff is a growing phenomenon that companies are trying to manage. He added that a majority of companies are still finding ways to curb the widespread use of social media and instead proposed that companies tap on it for their own advantages. “Switch this round, spend the time figuring out what benefits social media can bring, how the company can make use of these and then put in place guidelines that promote the positive use of this hugely powerful medium.” Source : http://sg.yfittopostblog.com/2010/09/02/sia-crew-members-warned-over-facebook-use/
  2. I will go for MH. Affendi, it's GTD price or normal price for MH? I'm also tried dummay booking by today to BANDUNG (BDO) by using GTD for MH and dummy booking for AK same route and date. Here the results. KUL - BDO (07.10.2010) BDO - KUL (12.10.2010) MH = RM305 incl tax (no insurance, free mysterious snackbox, seat allocation, 20kg luggage allowance) AK = RM431 incl tax (basic without no insurance buy a speacial seat, luggage not included, meals not included) MH is more cheaper than AK, different by RM126. So what can I say AK not a LCC nowadays. So by charge for counter check-in, it's not a good bisnes for AK, consumers will choose the best price and services.
  3. What happend if AK system shutdown again as last time (July 9 to July 11) during upgrading and passenger can't checkin by kiosk or web checkin, so need to Q for manually counter checkin. Is it passenger will be charge? I think future AK will be charge RM5 per hand luggage because it's easy money for them.
  4. Yup for MH, go to GTD (Get The Deal). You can get all in fare sometimes cheaper than AK.
  5. Frankly speaking to DS Tony and AK team, before implement any charging to passengers could you please improve your punctuality time? For example, my flight AK5288 KUL-KBR on 28/08/2010 rego 9M-AHP was delayed almost for 2 hours which suppose departure time on 15:50 but reschedule to 17:40. This is not for the first time. Do u think it's good for our aviation industry about punctuality? I think now, not "NOW EVERYONE CAN FLY" but "NOW EVERYTIME FLIGHT DELAYED". So again, before implement any charging to passengers please improve your punctuality time. Thanks.
  6. Yup, sometimes. Last month I board at KBR on night they using aerobridges because of wet weather and plane delayed. But i think it's good for lover plane if using stairs, we can see everthing so close.

  8. How about MASwings market if Firefly fly into Sabah and Sarawak routes? I think it's good for Firefly if their use B734 for high demand capacity such as to KBR, BTH, MED, SIN, LGK and expand to others new Thailand, Vietnam routes.
  9. EK safety video is very modern and informative. Love it. For Air NZ a bit shameful on part of old women naked, looks like women exploitation eventhough video's creative.
  10. Hi, I often onboard with FY for route SZB-KBR and SZB-BTH. So far on-time performance very punctual from my past experience and their crew/FA very friendly as well. Yup, mostly they served muffins and a drink for free all routes and provide inflight sales for FY merchandise items.
  11. Yup Sanjay, I think it's a good knowledge sharing and as Captain Radzi said Pilot not only bring people just fly among their dream destinations but at sometimes because of charity purpose. It's good view and experience from three pilot was age 20an, 30an and 40an.
13. I saw in April 2011, KUL to Mumbai (BOM) and New Dehli (DEL) for return, 0 fare available. After airport tax, total for return around RM207 per pax. It's so good deal.
  14. MAS expects first A380 in April 2012 after several delays Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will receive its first Airbus A380 in April 2012, after several delays since it placed an order for six aircraft in 2003. The airline had said in April that the first aircraft will arrive in the first half of 2012, but confirms today that it expects to receive its first A380 in April 2012. Airbus has delayed MAS' A380 deliveries three times. They were initially due to start arriving in January 2007, but the first delivery was postponed to January 2011 after delays in the Airbus programme, and then again to August 2011. The airline has received compensation from Airbus for the delays. http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2010/08/16/346188/mas-expects-first-a380-in-april-2012-after-several-delays.html

  22. It's more scary if flight delayed because of system upgrading and if u have connecting flight in nearest time.
  23. Not only manually checkin take time (Q line up so long) almost 20 minutes, many passengers KBR-KUL was angry when flight AK5293 delayed again from first reshedule departure 11:15PM to 11:55PM. Some of passengers "serbu" departure counter to get some explanation from AK person. One of arabian girl was really angry "bertikam lidah" with AK person (manager) at departure hall regarding flight delayed because of system upgrading. Finally before departure after 2 hours waiting for flight delayed, AK manager take a some effort to give passengers a tin/bottle of water as refreshment.
  24. Just join flightmemory as below siggy.
  25. At this time, I'm surfing at KFC Sultan Ismail Petra Airport Kota Bharu due to my AK5293 flight delayed. Should be fly on 09:55PM to KUL but reschedule to 11:15PM. Another flight AK to KUL also delayed. Manually checkin also take time (Q line up so long) almost 20 minutes, so this happened due to the upgrading. Perhaps i don't miss my hangout session for World Cup final..
