  1. Prelude to other Turkish heavies visiting SGN #1 #2 Water cannon greeting. Shame that the sky is so cloudy! #3 Transaero's B747-300 VP-BGW for winter charter flights to SGN:
  2. Pieter, Li Ren: Thks, Pics were taken around 4:30PM LT. By deducting 1h30' flying time, they departed KUL at approx. 2:00PM LT. It's very likely one is D7 2682 bound for ICN (Korea) or a delayed departure to TPE (D7 2672, ETD 9:50AM)
  3. Dec 26, 2010 afternoon, within 30 minutes 2 A333 D7, flying northbound FL370, crossed VOR TSN 116.70 (SGN airport). One's destination is Tokyo... #1 #2
  4. B738 MH rego 9M-MLG lift-off from RWY 11R VVNB during a short sunny time of the winter day
  5. Fokker 70 VN-A502 in new livery landing RWY11R HAN on a foggy day. A Xmas gift for Uncle Pieter
  6. quote name='flee' date='06 December 2010 - 11:17 AM' timestamp='1291609056' post='268797'] How is the weather like in April? Will be going to SGN and probably Phú Quốc too. If time permits, I might try to do some spotting in SGN. Any tips, guys? Flee, you are welcome to SGN in April. Weather'll be dry, sunny and hot. Expect heatwave from 10AM till 3PM, sunset will be late around 6:00PM (7:00PM KUL time). It would be same as in Phu Quoc but the sky is clear, blue. U'll find only ATR72s (VNA and Vasco) and CRJ900s (Mekong Air) at Phu Quoc Airport (PQC). Kanehoshi and Khiem will add further details. It's preferable to go spotting at SGN during weekend so we can escort you to the locations and makan/minum between photo sessions
  7. VVTS SGN airport hazy, sunny, cloudy, rainy, all in one day! #1 B744F CV Cargolux on final approach #2 B772ER VN-A142 landing through the rain curtain #3 B734MH over the hazy RWY25L #4 B738CI's anti-collision lights blinking in the mist #5 B744F CV Cargolux touched-down RWY25L in the rain #6 Terminal T2 at early sunset with thunderstorm in the background Thks for viewing.
  8. Malaysia-based friends, I don't remember whether I've posted yet, but it's now KUL for me as I've bought the airtickets already I'll need your assistance for spotting at Subang and Penang if KUL is too difficult!
  9. J.Kong & Mdsaleh: Very nice shooting of the 747SP and the RNZAF B757! Mdsaleh, I truly like your front-nose photos of the B757 and you got an excellent location. Hope that you can guide me there during next June.
  10. Riza, unless there is recent change due to security check, IMO it's possible provided that the flight SIN-MEL is less than 12 hours from your arrival to SIN. Nowaday, ticketing and check-in are computerized therefore ticket booking from different agents doesn't matter. You may get both boarding passes at SQ check-in counters in KLIA or do on-line check-in for the 2 sectors at home first.
  11. Birds combo metal birds and feathered ones! Cpt. Radzi, don't you worry, there is only an illusion of bird strike since this photo was zoomed at 240mm =>distance compression. Anyway, TIAGS (Airport ground service) frequently sent tractors to cut down the grass and bird chasing cars.
  12. Very nice shots mdsaleh. "Something smoking..." is actually the rare contrail (in hot tropical countries) that any air photographer is looking for. Superb shot TK I really like this angle/moment when A/C lift off.
  13. Many thanks for your advice, Flee. As I just enter MW site today, I'm trying to check "manage my booking" but the Air Asia site seems congested now, 08 Nov., the last day of this promotion. May be I can't buy the return ticket at that price anymore
  14. I hope that you folks will decide soon on the venue as Air Asia is selling dirt-cheap fares for that specific period of June 2011. The offer lasts till 08 Nov. I'm buying a return ticket SGN-KUL for US$80 (all inclusive), the ##%% problem is after input of all the payment details and submit them, the site returns with a busy note (flying bee ZZZ! ZZZ!).
  15. Folks, Pls decide promptly KUL or BKK so I can buy airtickets. Air Asia is offering special prices till 8 Nov!
  16. Pieter: I was a "lucky B@st@rd" too during the last trip (27-30 Jun'10)at SIN And I get more F50's and KC135's too Photos taken from VN741 back to SGN #1 #2
  17. Pieter: By DXB u mean the tower building in the background? Yes, it's the newest building in town destined to be the landmark of the city (including a helipad). And here is a bonus to you. The Fokker F28 Philippines AF001 arriving from Hanoi after the Summit meeting. The RP president prefers to fly C-class aboard the A-320 PR597 SGN-MNL due to bad weather over the Souh China Sea . That's a chance for us here in SGN BTW, do you remark something?
  18. Congratulations Suzuki san. Your photos are super! especially the B737 RAAF wedgetail. Re. the FDA jets whatever people's taste about their color, they surely enliven the airports with their presence.
  19. The NZ delegation comes to ASEAN Summit 17+ in Hanoi on 2 B757 RNZAF. They made a visit stop to Ho Chi Minh City(SGN) 28 Oct. and departed to HAN 29 Oct. Here is the NZ7572 with the PM onboard lifting off RWY25R VVTS
  20. An USAF C17A Globemaster III of the 436th Airlift Wing made a visit at SGN and departed on Sunday 24 Oct. #1 Engines on reverse for self-pushback from parking 21 of the Tan Son Nhat Intl. terminal #2 Sorry for the obstacle as I was about 600m from the aircraft! please note humid air sucked into engine 1 and the loadmaster on watch-out at the rear cargo door. #3 a civil Follow-me car leads the military cargo on taxiway E6 #3 Special aircrat, special treatment: The cargo was allowed to take-off from RWY25L which was currently used for landing #4 The cargo jet is cleared to align on RWY25L
  21. Here you are, Liam. The Jetstar Pacific (BL) aircraft VN-A198 began its first revenue flight last Friday 22 Oct. Sorry for the color, The SGN sky is very hazy during these last days.
  22. If it is the agenda, why don't you try SGN or HAN. Traffic can't compete with the 3 top airports that Uncle Pieter mentioned but lunch, dinner, beer. etc... are scrumptuous at 1/3 to 1/2 the prices of BKK or KUL? No bulis harassment. ASEAN spotters don't need visa, plenty of flights from Air Asia (AK, FD, QZ), Jetstar, Tiger, Lion Air, mini-hotel twin-bed room, A/C, en-suite bathroom/toilet/Cable TV @US$18-20 for 2 pers. If we focus on the 3 airports, I'll vote by order: 1/ KUL (at Ladang ) 2/ BKK (Prompong to take us to the wat location ) 3/ HKG (subject to visa which take at least 3 weeks for Vietnamese)
  23. Nice 772 VN-A146 climbing shot Khiem clear atmosphere, blue sky it seems that the famous Hanoi Autumn has arrived.
  24. Thanks Pieter. It's a pity that this passenger could not survive after so hard effort from the SQ crew.
  25. There was a thunderstorm lasting almost an hour at SGN airport yesterday afternoon (28 Aug'10) resulting to 7 aircraft (including MH and AK) on hold within 20 miles of the airport. Suddenly the B772ER 9V-SQN flight SQ866 from SIN to HKG requested a (non-technical)emergency landing in the mid of heavy rain and very low visibilty at the runways. After about 10 mins of flying a 1.5 mile holding pattern above the RWY25R localizer, visibility ameliorated to 1,000m. The aircraft touched-down at 16:13LT. The passengers stayed onboard while the aircraft was refueled then departed to HKG at 17:14LT. It arrived at destination 3hrs 20min late. From Singapore Airlines website: 28th August 2010 - Saturday - Flight Number SQ866 / Aircraft (B777-200) Airport Scheduled Time Actual Time Estimated Time Status Departure From Singapore (SIN) Terminal 3 13:30 13:33 Departed Arrival In Ho Chi Minh City 16:00 16:22 Arrived Departure From Ho Chi Minh City 17:00 17:14 Departed Arrival In Hong Kong (HKG) 17:15 20:36 Arrived Final approach #1 #2 #3 Above the runway threshold #4 Refueling with firetruck on standby #5 #6 B744F CI landing 15 min after the B772SQ #7 B744F Cargolux No.5 in sequence Any friend from SQ could clarify on this ad-hoc landing? IMO, It's probable that someone was severely sick to necessitate this landing for hospitalization. Or could the aircraft be short of fuel? The FO has informed ATC while on hold that the endurance is 50 minutes.
