Speaking of service quality on MH - I recall reading in their inflight magazine around May or July 2018 that the 'service quality level has gone above and beyond', or something along the lines of that. Sadly I have to beg to differ - on a MEL-KUL flight and return, service was extremely poor. In fact at one stage when a crew member accidentally bumped the catering cart into the corner of the galley she dropped the 's' word - first time i have heard swearing by a cabin crew member during their duties. The general attitude of the cabin crew members spelt one thing - it was that "dont care" attitude that really surprised me and is definitely not the same MH I flew on first in the mid 2000's. On the KUL-LHR and return legs were much better - there was a massive difference in quality of service. Which was surprising considering the really bad experiences on the MEL-KUL/return flights. Besides that - the revamped lounge at KUL Sattelite terminal is a much improvement - however i do not feel personally, that it is on par with other one-world lounges at a major hub.

I was on MH3 on 23/7/18, guess I guess lucky that my flight was on time!!!! The ground staff, yes you’re right, were of Italian appearance. They spoke with an non UK accent. They were quite rude as well even though i was checking in at J counter due to OW sapphire status.

There's a rumor going around that MPP will depart end of this month for good, anyone heard further updates?

interesting. nothing much has been discussed on the melbourne spotters page regarding MTB. Not sure what luck MH had at Melbourne. Earlier last year was MTA severely damaged in Melbourne due to heavy landing and was ferried back to KL via Darwin. Fingers crossed nothing serious has happened to MTB.

Flee, i'm pretty close to booking a return flight to LHR on MPP, however like you i'm kinda scared that i wont be flying on MPP if they suddenly do a last minute equipment change to the A380.

slightly off topic, but speaking of MTB, does anyone know to what extent the damage is and how long it'll be in melbourne?

Indeed MTB is stuck in Melbourne. L1 door from what I've seen - door frame has been sealed and wrapped over with blue plastic.

So MPP will be the back up to the A380's then would it only operate on schedule during the A380 gone offline or is it going to be random?

May I ask, what flight numbers is MPP posed to operate the A380 routes on and what months is she expected to operate? Reason I ask is so that I can book my next trip down to KUL! Thank you!

HI Pieter, nice photo! i went out to KLIA today near 32L and couldnt get up very high, above the fenceline so i ended up taking final approach shots at the end of 32L. May I kindly ask the location that your photo was taken? I'd love to get above the fenceline! thanks Tony

Thank you Flee for your advice and the spotting information. At this stage I will be out there on Wednesday morning and saturday for the entire day with a fellow spotter,I believe he's also actively posted here (Syafiq). Hope to meet you and other spotters out there during my course of spotting at KLIA. Tony

Dear spotters, My name is Tony and I plan to visit KUL in the next week or so, to catch a glimpse of the Iran Air 747SP before it retires (soon?). However being someone with no spotting experience at KUL i'm wondering if I can get some pointers and advice from anyone. Transport isnt going to be an issue,as I will have access to a car. Now to the important bit, the questions! -What runway does Iran air mostly use for arrival/departure? -what are the best spots around KLIA (anyone got google map locations pinned?) -will i need to bring a step ladder? -what other advice do you have - security? police? do they hassle spotters? Thank you in advance and I look forward to be hopefully, meeting some of you out there at KLIA during my visit.

Gavin, Nice guide. are the spots still accessible by vehicle? I will be visiting KL from Australia next month and besides trying to fit a MH flight sim session in, I would not mind trying out some plane spotting!

i was close to booking a FSE session ( 40 mins) but i wanna be sure that the A380 sim will be up and running soon? i'll be in KL in late DEC, anyone reckon it'll be ready?! i'm being very optimistic here....!

I'm flying Air Asia to KL from Melbourne in December and I've got a question regarding luggage allowance. I had this debate with my friend who thinks that passengers are only allowed to check in one-piece of luggage, and from the air asia website, i do not see this rule in their Terms and Conditions. My friend, being ego-i-stic, have insisted that this one-piece luggage policy applies. My research proves he's wrong. So i thought i'd ask the people here who most of you problably have flown air asia, tell me the experience with check-in luggage. Cheers Anthony (or Tony)

when i went to the MH FSE the instructor said the A380 sim is bring brought in. is that true or he must have meant the 737-800?
