so keeping the A380 while the major operators are letting them go ?

wonder if the "skid marks" represent hesitation or even braking efforts from an intellectual 🤣

Livery wise, it's a good combo as gold goes well with dark or red. not too sure if coloring around the door edges will last as long ... or if wings are even allowed to be painted ? missing a marketing opportunity leaving those engine nacelles blank. Athough if coloring them black with gold wau, may just be too close of a reminder to petroleum oil ?

Why not check out the flying clubs at Subang instead of looking at flying schools.

do you have a contact (preferably a instructor) who I can check with ?

  3. Hi all ,

Resurrecting this topic 8 years on ! Still haven't gotten started on PPL and with the recent COVID19 , things are going very slow work-wise. Sliver lining is a possible break (career wise) to pursue this 🙂

Re-looking into getting a PPL in Malaysia, thankfully MFA now states on their website such a course would take 3 months full-time. Wondering if anyone has other suggestions ? Open to options such as Australia as well IF there is a clear advantage in doing so.

  4. Looks like more renovation work for the Domestic and Regional lounges, MTB KLIA:

    https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/travel_advisory/golden-lounge-upgrading-works.html

Regional Golden Lounge at Main Terminal Building

    Closed from 12:00am 12 May until 15 August 2017

During the closure, Business Class guests, Enrich Platinum, Gold and oneworld members can use either of the following lounges:

    a) Malaysia Airlines International Golden Lounge at the Satellite building, located close to the Aerotrain (Operating 24 hours)

    B) Malaysia Airport CIP lounge located at the Mezzanine floor, Satellite Terminal, located close to Gates 31-37 (Operating hours: 6:00 am to 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

Facilities available at Malaysia Airport CIP lounge:

    • Light Refreshment
    • Lounge seating
    • Wi-fi
    • Flight information display, newspapers and magazines

    Domestic Golden Lounge

Closed from midnight 2 June until 15 August 2017

During the closure, Business Class guests, Enrich Platinum, Gold and oneworld members can use the following temporary lounge:

B3 Area temporary lounge located at B3 Gate Domestic Main Terminal Building

was it 2015 when the Domestic GL was last closed ? Added the noodle bar but left out fixing the toilet / showers :p Silver lining was Maggi Cup noodles at B3 which IMHO are much tastier that Noodle Bar offerings.

Since both lounges (and maybe SIN?) are re-opening on the same day, good chance of a new lounge style launch ?

  5. glad everyone is safe from this mishap.

what happened has happened, however it seems both MABs (Malaysia Airlines & Malaysia Airport Holdings) lack prep to deal with incidents at airports other than KLIA.

Sibu airport only expected to open 10/4 Monday Noon. 37 hours to clear a runway ? News reports pending "Recovery Kit" from Kuching & Kuala Lumpur. Kuching is only 4 hours drive by bus, couldn't the equipment come on a trailer ?

Also didn't see the logo or titles masked over on the aircraft. Isn't this a logical step to minimize bad publicity ?

  6.

well as least this brings it in line with the KUL/KCH - SIN no alcohol served policy ... even when these flights operated as "First" (till sometime 2010?) and Economy cabin. (any idea why the typical business seats were sold as "First" ?)

"Festival Mode" - Foto Credit Meor MH

The first commercial flight is expected on May 16... KUL to LHR (to be confirmed)

Thank you Sofian for these exclusive shots !!

For anyone worrying about the "color" of the lights, it's actually the shutter speed of the camera capturing the different phases/flicker rates (same on MH's B772). In actual experience it'll be a uniform color :) Or the system could be in test mode :pardon:

MH4/ 16MAY KUL-LHR is already in the system, to be operated by the 744.

After that, MH4/ 18MAY, but not for the rest of that week.

And then, the next fight after that is MH4/25May.

personally while I'm thrilled at the exterior (but not as much as Hibiscus) , as a frequent flier on the LHR-KUL route .... not so with the non-upgraded interior. Actually rather worried I'll be on the aircraft for 13 hours with cabin products from the last decade !!

  8. Can somebody point this out to MH like via its FB page? Otherwise, we end up "negotiating with ourselves"

I haven't tried, but on my KUL-TPE flight, not only was the b738 filthy, my seat was also missing the audio jack :sorry:

the flight was completely packed since downgrade from B772 so the crew couldn't just move me to another seat. as I'm the sort that carries my own earphone + aircraft adapter, I requested for one of those MH comment cards to give my feedback hoping that it would be taken seriously. I specifically mentioned the poor state of the cabin/fittings/toilet etc. the comment card had a specific clause saying I would be contacted in 2 weeks. I passed the sealed card back to the crew who promised to have it sent.

It's been 5 months now and haven't heard a thing. Sent them a picture of the hole in the armrest togther with the comment card to MH's email as a reminder a month after ... same silence :lazy:

  9. After you have selected your flights and clicked "next" on the flights selection page, you'll be directed to the "summary" page. On the "summary" page, click "View Fare Rules". A pop-up window will appear and right next to the city pair (in your case KUL-LHR) you'll see something like "VGVRTFMY". The booking code is almost always the first letter of that fare basis, and in this case it'll be V class.

    thanks ! :)

I'm looking specifically at MH 1 for early June. Called CS but was told redemption quota already fulfilled and waiting list was also full. Called a 2nd time a week later and was now told that the "system" was not showing any redemption upgrades, and waiting list is not yet open (or may not be open). Since this agent seemed friendlier, I asked to look at redemption upgrades around my date and was told these were avaible.

According to the agent, my specific flight still had 57 empty in Business Class.

Any idea if there is a way to see which is actually true (redemption seats already taken up or redemption no yet started) ? But most importantly, also a way to spend my points to receive the upgrade :pardon:

  10. With how creative (or daring/brash/gung-ho) AirAsia is; whats stopping them from introducing a new concept to the "long haul - low cost" industry ?

Spent 6 years in UK/Europe and have always been impressed with their Sleeper Trains. Applying this concept, I think getting a bunk or just a place to lie down would be awesome for a long haul flight. Add in an on-board lounge for those who want to dine/drink ... with the right ticket price (nothing higher than FSC economy) I would gladly switch to such an offering !

  11. So MH announced the closure of its lounges in PER and SIN. Very much expected and were in the works.

So, that just leaves MEL and LHR with lounges, apart from PEN, KUL (3), KCH and BKI (2).

Previously, MH had its own branded lounges in LAX, FRA, JHB, LGK, SYD....anywhere else?

Closing SIN lounge ? Is there an alternative OneWorld lounge in Changi T2 ?

EDIT : sorry just read the MH Travel Advisory. So guests will be able to use the Premier Lounge in Changi T2. Is the lounge closure for renovation or is "Service Improvement" just a nice way to say axed ?

  12. can't they swap to cheaper food options ? "steak" on domestic business ? they could save on the (expensive) meat by making it into a casserole paired with mash.

why not excel at something , over providing a "so-so" solution. the purpose of J class meal is not to get full ... its to feel special ! I think MH has missed this crucial point if they are planing to roll out this "solution" to their problems.

  13. If they buy MASwings from MAS, they should also buy the surplus B738s from them - I cannot imagine flying KCH-HKG in an ATR or Twotter... ;)

but why do they need to buy when they can start their own ? Each state already has its own private operators ie: Sabah Air & Hornbill Airways so licensing wouldn't be the issue ... unlike FAX.

looking forward to someone introducing amphibious aircraft and airship routes !
