Was initially excited by the new livery, but can't help thinking the "modern" pattern looks abit similar to Garuda (??)
Expected something classier from Hibiscus/ Heliconia livery. The majority of white would seem rather out of place on a wide body (A380)

One of the criteria to become SIA's CEO, is that your middle chinese name must be 'Choon'
Cheong Choon Kong
Chew Choon Seng
Goh Choon Phong
Another thing is , all 3 are engineers !

Was on MH389 (Shanghai - KUL)this week , and the Capt there managed to calculate the break fast time to 6.27pm (accurate to the minute!). After which the Cabin Crew began to serve meals to the Muslim passenger , approx 1 hour after we had ours

just wondering, do any flight schools operate out of / use subang ?
(RMAF discounted)
-
hey guys , sorry for digging up an old thread & this is going to be OT but ..
does anyone have all the callsigns of aircraft that leave subang ? incld private aircraft ?
many thanks in advance !
-
Geo, amazing artistic shot there!!
Timothy.. dont bother GGIFA, I dont think there is such thing as China Southern crew in training at all, all the current batches are facing long tiring endless waiting game to finish their respective licenses..Very bad management.. Dont waste your money there! <_>
Was guessing there were putting me on a wild goose chase too Talked to the headmaster and Captain something something last time. Not very convincing .. but still looking to get my PPL though. too bad flight schools in M'sia only give lessons in batches.
-
does the bintulu flight school offer a PTL license now ?
i tried a year ago (june 2009) but was told this would only be available later since "there was a batch of china southern crew in training" at the time , and was told to try again next year.

i'd agree fare price in borneo are much much higher for inter-city connection. (not to west malaysia)
but i guess this is just to off set the cost of operating aircraft there. I use to fly to BTU-MYY once a month and the aircraft was always 1/4 full !
-
According to NTSB, the two aircraft came within an estimated 100 ft. vertically and 0.33 mi. laterally of each other as the 747 was departing ANC and the A319 was executing a go-around following a missed approachwow ! thats really close for planes traveling close to 300kmh !

hmmm ... i'm more interested in their salary. is the RM 27k inclusive of bonuses ?
I would expect the most senior of pilots to earn more.
-
i would say consistency lacks on MH. sometime i'll get a whole can , sometimes i'll get half a cup ...
but having flown on MH for 4 years long haul (KUL-LHR) & (KUL-BTU) i'd say MH economy is pretty decent. their beef steak on international routes is absolutely tender , i've seen pax asking for seconds even ! and satay on domestic is much welcomed over their snackbox
will be travelling again on those routes in a week , and hopefully the service will be the same

wish i could pay economy and fly 1st

if it's so hard for D7 , why can't they register themselves as a s'pore/thai/brunei entity ? obviously AK will stay malaysian so it can get the domestic slots.
I would think brunei is a good one, since they have the facilities and low traffic / closer to aust & china, japan, taiwan etc (in terms of flight corridors)
they can have a secondary hub wherever they decide to offload passenger and then connect them to KUL.
-
superb news !
skipping straight to the big picture, this could mean our armed forces would eventually be fully equipped with Russian know how.
of course the Russians havent really been known for transparency or fairness either

hahaha ... i just visted the website. not only are most of the links dead, even the Follow Us on icons don't lead anywhere.
I think they hired someone's kid to do this ? from the level of work, probably a 12 year old with wordpress.
makes me wonder how they would handle flight ops, hiring proficient crew, customer service .. the list goes on. Sure you may "links" in Perak, but when you fly into other places how do you expect to support your operation ?
what I'm guessing is a gullible owner. Even if I had no experience in a particular field, I would still boost confidence in my staff INSTEAD of telling them "it's alright, we're all new to this, we're expected to make mistakes" which is the feeling i'm getting here.
either way, there are many more airlines flying into Riau and Silverfly will be at the very bottom of my list, if at all.

whoaaaa .... any info of the people living in there ?
Aviation lovers ? or just too "resourceful" ?
i see lights on the belly as well , wished I could have one of those on my lawn !
-
i think the "lost" here refers to irreparable damage ?
[joke] but hey, if these really were "stolen" again ... anybody know who i should call for a couple of nuri's for my house? [/joke]

No offense but ,
I too have abandoned Enrich (due to lack of crediting miles, unanswered emails), but joined LH's Miles and More, since I'm not the biggest fan of SQ. Anyway, the experience has been completely wunderbar! Miles always credited, even when flying Star Alliance carriers, which in our region means TG and SQ. I stopped flying MH for a long time, a near blanket boycott except that the company puts me on MH for domestic flights, perhaps that will change since now AK has been approved for company travel.
I've found presenting your Enrich card during Check In solves the problem of "missing miles" . I now show it with my IC , and no problems thus far (3 years and counting)
My dad besides being a frequent flier, a few months ago was flying full fare golden club class internationally had a rude MH ground staff asking him to pay excess baggage for being just a few kgs over weight (
What tier is your Dad ? Enrich introduced a new system where they now only award free excess baggage to Enrich, where :
Blue : 5Kg extra
Silver : 10Kg
Gold : 1.5x weight limit
Platinum : 2x
Regarding Enrich however, in my opinion many things need to change, how about priority boarding for Tiered Enrich members?? They call out families to board first, boarding by rows etc but not Enrich members, FFPs are supposed to create loyalty, treatment better than non members, flying MH, you don't get a sense that's happening.
Silver and above are entitled to board anytime they wish, It's all in the Welcome letter.

I'm not sure about anyone else here, but when I see a Malaysian flagship carrier in the state that I find AirAsia's aircraft on
, then I think Tony Fernandes needs to spend less time and money on the likes of Man United, Williams F1 and his Lotus project, grab some Windex and get up to his elbows in some maintenance. I challenge anyone who knows anything about flying to say that this article or this article are too far off the mark, and that AA management's attitude is acceptable on the basis of national pride if nothing else. It's bad enough that we're a laughing stock when foreigners see how Malaysian business is conducted here without our safety being second rate. As a Malaysian, I say clean up your act AirAsia! If anyone disagrees, speak up! If you see my point and feel that we should speak up, then go ahead and voice any thoughts too. I'm new to the forum and I'm sorry to start off with a whinge. Malaysian Wings is a really cool forum, and I imagine populated by other Malaysians that are equally dismayed by this as myself.I'm amused that several of you find it amusing. Full points, it is a 737-300. And perhaps you are also correct when you say its days are coming to an end. By the look of it, let's hope you're right.
I think it's you who missed the point, because the fact is that this old 737 clunker is still flying today and in case you missed it, that same old clunker is in a trashy, unacceptable state. In so much as it is an ancient relic, the need to maintain it goes double. I'll accept that AirAsia is a no-fills airline, but that shouldn't apply to maintenance. Missing rivets? Rust? Metal fatigue? Sections of wing literally peeling away? Passable? I'd warrant this AirAsia bucket needs a hell of a lot more work than it's evidently getting right now. If that's 'apples & oranges' and we cannot be expected to exhibit the same level of professionalism and care you'd find anywhere else in the world, then it's really little wonder we're widely seen as third-world. I notice nobody touched on the filthy politics either. Personally, neither issue is something I embrace. To quote you, Tony: "It's a bit like trying to compare laws in different countries, which obviously won't work, if you get what i mean??" Yes.
you sound very eager to create a heated debate.
I'm curious how you came to find "metal fatigue" on AK planes. Perhaps a quick rainflow analysis & coherent optical cross correlation process summarized by miners rule was done before you uploaded your "facts" ?
the most important thing to know is how little you know. After all, a little knowledge is a deadly thing.

QUOTE (Pieter C. @ Jan 27 2009, 06:10 PM)<!--quotec-->Projects too ambitious coupled with various 'prides' of the countries concerned <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->I read somewhere on the development of the old Concord. The British engineer when explaining why the delay of concord's development said this.... " first you must understand, we are working with the French here...."
No offence but I guest different nationality with different objectives...
no joke. i'm lucky enough to have one of my lectures who was the chief engineer for the olympus engines on the Concord as well as BA's Chief engineer for this legendary bird. the Brits & French took turns to host technical meetings regarding the plane. When in Britain, english was used ... but when meetings were held in France ... French was the compulsory language.

I saw this notification on MH's website.
Does the concept (interior/design etc) of the new Golden Lounge in Heathrow Terminal 4 will be based on the Regional Golden Lounge in KUL as speculated previously? Would be great if any members who are passing by the terminal can snap a photo or two. And by the way, for those who are wondering on the shifting of operation from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4, it is part of Heathrow's airline-to-terminal reassignment program, where the airlines will be grouped according to their Alliances. Terminal 4 will house all SkyTeam airlines and all non alligned airlines, like MH. MH will be the second airline after EY to move from T3 to T4.
if you're able to wait, i'm on a flight back in dec so hopefully everything will be up and running by then
current golden lounge in LHR is very poor for one of MH's cash routes. Normal toilets, no hand towels, no amenities, and the bar is always staffed by a lone bartender. Been there 3 times this year, same person. Not only that, drink and food selection is even worst than domestic lounges in Malaysia. No milk, weird food, very obvious pre-packed sushi, probably about 8 beverage types and no cocktails
but the food selection does change, havent had the same thing twice. A bit of clarification on "weird food" : they used diluted peanut butter as satay sauce

I think it would have been much nicer if the blue & red bands were thicker.
From the video, the plane doesn't stand out as much as the previous livery. Also, why did they have to change "malaysia" to malaysiaairlines ?
the new 2 tone title seems pretty cheap imho.
