  1. Thanks for the cash back tip on Quidco, mate.Yes travelling with kids, the number of stops becomes relevant. Hope that Dragon Air isnt all that bad, flee. Meanwhile if anyone do come across any promotion via BKK, hence LHR/BKK/PEN or via KUL, LHR/KUL/PEN please drop a line.
  2. Sadly Wong dates not flexible mate, maybe just by a day is ok. Because the childrens schools holiday begins then,23rd. As this will be the first visit to Malaysia, and probably the only one for a long time to come, they want to maximize their time there in Malaysia from the start of holidays till end,23/24th July till 29th Aug. CX seems to be the only one stop connection from LHR to PEN which is resonable. Checked Etihad LHR/BKK GBP 4546.80
  3. Hi Guys thatnks for all the info. Most likely will use cathay at 4100 pounds because its just one stop from London to Penang. As apposed to landing at KLIa and then splurge on another flight to penang for 5 hence involve 3 plane changes.
  4. Maybe thats a good idea, wait for a tad bit as time still far away, although its the start of school holidays there during then. Haha kenneth they fly Y class so no kit and slippers sadly.
  5. China Southern works up to 4800 pounds,RBA more then 5000,MH slightly less then 4900,EK 4500,Qatar 4539,kuwait 3065,Turkish 3700,Oman air cannot price itenarary,CX 4200,SQ 5018,KLM 6083. Kenneth thanks for the trip report on Kuwait. Seems very outdated but is so reasonably priced. Downside 5 hours transit, guess the kids will be sooo bored on the long flight and also in the airport,TK looks like a good deal. Also noticed that Oman air operates a rather new fleet,
  6. Wow Mushrif, kuwait air so cheap! 3063 pounds only for all 5 compared to MH 4500 pounds onwards.Unable to price Oman air uwait International Airport (KWI) 12:20 | Fri, 28-Aug-15 London Heathrow International Airport (LHR) 17:20 | Fri, 28-Aug-15 0 Stop(s) Airbus A300-600 Do they still use A300?Does the A300 & A340 used on KUL route have PTV?Sorry just trying to gauge what to expect.
  7. Hi All My sister is planning to come down to Penang on 23/24th July -29th Aug 2015. Any ideas of the most economical route for a family of 5 to travel from London to KUL/PEN during then or any running promotions for that period? thanx
  8. Pulls emergency landing? Lets get our grammer right. Secondly she was allowed boarding almost to the end of her pregnancy, amazing.Whats the policy on MH for pregnant women.?
  9. A Singapore Airlines pilot has admitted causing a high-speed crash that has left a colleague fighting for his life in hospital. Benjamin Yonghao Wu, 32, has been charged with two counts of reckless driving causing injury after a crash with a 4WD towing a horse float at the intersection of Weedons Ross Rd and Maddisons Rd, near Rolleston, south of Christchurch on Wednesday. The car's occupants were a group of five Singapore Airlines crew members. Singapore Airlines chief steward Chew Weng Wai is today still in a critical condition with brain injuries in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) at Christchurch Hospital, a District Health Board spokeswoman confirmed to APNZ. Stewardess Vanessa Leonara Savio Coehlo is in a stable condition in a general ward following surgery. Two passengers were unhurt and have "returned home", police say. A Singapore Airlines spokesman said today: "Our priority has not changed, which is to provide our staff and their families the highest standard of care and assistance. However, due to our privacy policy, we are unable to disclose any further details about our staff." At Christchurch District Court today, Wu, of Singapore, appeared in the dock to plead guilty to both reckless driving causing injury charges. Defence counsel Kerry Cook asked for sentencing to proceed today. He said the airline had flown over the victims' families, but not the family of Wu who has been left "isolated and under stress". He is staying at a city hotel and with "a significant amount of effort" he has brought $15,000 into New Zealand which he hopes will be offered as emotional harm compensation to the "split between the two [victims] as the court sees fit". Police however asked for a delay in sentencing to find out the exact conditions of the two victims. Police prosecutor sergeant Glenn Pascoe said one victim "might still pass away". Police also wanted more time to get more information from the family of victims before sentence. Judge Jane McMeeken adjourned the case until Monday, "with a view to sentencing on that date", but warned it still might not happen on that day. Police have Wu's passport, and he was bailed on the condition he would not drive a motor vehicle and not travel outside Christchurch. A Singapore Airlines spokeswoman said: "Our immediate concern is for the welfare of our staff and we shall accord them and their families the highest standard of care and assistance, which is practicable." WIsh them all a speedy recovery.
  10. The rego of the plane is VH-PFJ and that's Australian registered aircraft probably based in Singapore. Not a singapore Plane.
  11. Haha the right person has spoken! Having traveled so much in F and J class and countless number of lounges around the globe, youre right on the money! Also when I said great lounges in KL I did not mean to compare it with SYD or HKG ones. what I meant was as a one world lounge good enough for stopover pax on QF services to Europe,if indeed they decide to jump base from DXB in the future and enjoy free one world lounge facilities for their customers thus saving them $$$. Wonder whether QF pay EK royalty for lounge use in DXB?
  12. Since I am looking at a wider audience, let me rephrase the question. The reason for this is that there is a large proportion of transit pax to India utilizing MH & SQ services and have to transit either in KUL or SIN for their journey back to india from whichever country/city they reside, lets say Auckland. So if you were to be in the situation.which would be your choice A380 all the way or 777 then, ass cramped 737 for 5 hours? Also assume everything else being the same, fare etc. Suzanne? ps: I have traveled on the MH 737 ex BKK and it was great for that 2 hour journey IMO .
  13. MH 737 to DEL,SQ A380. Which one will be your choice for a 5 hour flight?
  14. Hey lets not try to disturb the bees nest as we will be the ones to get stung! Changi is a dynamic hub and we dont wanna stir things up.Instead lets focus on ourselves meaning KLIA and the opportunity to advertise as a One World hub linking Europe to Australasia. This is our opportunity so MH go grab this one...........We have great lounges. And maybe just maybe QF will appear to share some honey in this one world hub shifting from DXB to KUL in the future. We should not be seen as taking bussiness away from our neighbour but rather be seen as working with them to take away bussiness from the Middle East hubs. To synergies is the only way forward. So we need to see the wider picture.
  15. Sometimes despite how injured we are we have to continue to march forward if we want to survive. Since the dcision has been made not to shut MH,the only way forward is consistent products and metal and of couse restructure. Further more A380 is a crowd puller,MH A380 LHR flights full for whole month of september. With the retirement of T7 fuel expenditure can go down and one less fleet type as well, less cost.Even if they dont get 2 new planes, the 6 billion will just vanish without accoutability. So might as well get new planes and try luck. SQ daily A380 ex AKL,and also Air NZ daily 777W to SIn.Fare structure can be adjusted accordingly. Even a chef can cook a great dish if given sub par stove and utensils.Same applies with MH if not great inflight products at least new planes.
  16. They should add another 2 A380's and complete their line up of brand new aircraft, dispose all T7's.All long haul on A380's for LHR,FRA,AMS,AKL,CDG.
  17. this is so true, and by default all the old livery associated and beamed around the world would be gone with the 777's. can someone get this info to ahmad jauhari, adding on the 2 380's at cheap prices?
  18. Yup why AKL?SQ is going to be daily A380 SIN/AKL. MH should eat the humble pie and approach SQ to code share with SQ on long haul services (remember passages,MH,SQ CX?). If they can achieve that then the frequencies from Europe via KUL/SIN to australia will be equal to that of EK. Hence pax on SQ website/MH website should be able to book flights to europe via KUL or SIN from australia, thus giving addded flexibility to timing.Only way to beat middle east carriers. Just like the quote of a single matchstick that is easy to snap, but put them together and the dynamics change. At this point even SQ need some help, hence an ideal partnership. For comparison,EK has 5 A380 services to London daily,With MH and SQ services combined,is also 5 A380! This will also give value to MH brand image which is in dire straits.
  19. To those who still questioning about alternate routes being taken by MH for European destination, i would advise you guys to go for flight dispatch course, get a license, and apply to work for MH. If you guys are more daring, perhaps spend around RM 300k to get a pilots license, try to get a place in airline flying trans continental route then came back here and convince that it is not a safe route for them to fly around Syria, Afghanistan, for that matter.I am behind MH decision to fly any route they deemed safe. Any detours from safe and normal routes shouldn't be done to appease non-flying public. I realise that we malaysians in general takes things personally when some feedback is given and in defence we start saying you havent done this course blah blah and so just shut up.I can understand if such statements were made if MH was one of the best run, most profitable airline but its not. Time and time again wrong decisions have been made. I have realised that when some feed back is given to me,I do not straight away shoot it down because of my pride and take it personally as I used too but actually sit and think where I can improve further. Same goes with MH. we at this forum all want to see this airline to be really sucessful too. To achieve this we need to throw our pride in the bin and start listening, observing what other airlines do/flight paths used and really we have a competent neighbour, all we need to do is follow, even maybe form closer ties between MH GA SQ TG and plan together. But are we willing? Do we know it all?
