  1. According to Malaysian defense enthusiasts(my source being forum.carimost of the forumers are soldiers), the EC725 does not fulfill most of RMAF specifications.
  2. He was caught in Hong Kong...shows how bad our airports are. It is also possible for illegal immigrants to take flights to and from Malaysia with fake passports that some don't even bother making passports even if the could afford to.
  3. In Malaysia anything is possible with $$$ to certain people. I think many Malaysians carry forbidden stuff in and out of airports frequently. I think airports and police should clamp down on illegal stuff including excessive amount of money being transported through airports.Illegal stuff and activities no matter how small eventually attract bad people.
  4. I wonder If MAS would respond to Air Asia's sale.
  5. Will there be plans for Air Asia X to go to Adelaide?
  6. Thread on KKIA on skyscrapercity.com http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=465525
  7. A380 sales doesn't look good. More than a third of the order is by one airline.
  8. It'd be more effective to write letters to OZ newspapers and demand an apology. Waiting the Aussies to apologize to 'Ahhhhhsiaaans' is like waiting for cats to grow horns.
  9. Hope Qantas or any drongo will not blame us Asians again.
  10. There are only about 100+ of these aircrafts in use and only the US and Canada are the major users. I still believe these aircrafts will be a logistical nightmare.Technical data reveals that these aircrafts can only fly for only 5 hours at one time .With only two of these, I dun think these babies will get to see much rescuing and patrolling around our vast coastline in 5 hour . A combination of UAVs and SAR helis would have been desirable and more effective for SAR . In addition, our maritime security is a pressing matter since we have pirates infested Malacca straits and a fleet of aging former RMN boats. MMEA could have got at least a dozen of patrol boats with the money to buy these flying boats. The Grumman Albatross were retired pretty quickly because RMAF cannot maintain them and you could ask any Malaysian defense enthusiasts for confirmation. These planes are a great addition to the MMEA, but they could have gotten something better.
  11. This aircraft could only fly 5 hours max. What a waste of money. Should have bought several patrol boats or even UAVs.I dunno what the PM Department(who is in charge of MMEA finances) is thinking. I am not too sure whether we have expertise to maintain such an aircraft. It will surely be more hard to maintain due to marine corrosion.Maintaining aircrafts on the grouns is hard enough as it is..let alone one that constantly exposed to sea water.
  12. Off topic for awhile, The Chasers in Australia once did a ruse in the heavily tight Sydney airport where they registered a name Al-Qaeda on a flight. Guess what, the authorities never noticed even though the airliner paged the name. Although names may not be a good indication of a potential terrorist plot but airport security may always miss small details. Another ruse is when the Chasers breached security at the Apec Summit at Sydney(OZ spent $150 million on security) where the Chasers, riding a limo with Canada flags flanked by 4 bodyguards completely fooled OZ security and even FBI and managed to get 100m from Bush's hotel and security only realized it was a ruse when one of the Chasers emerged in an Osama costume. It was an embarrassment for Australian police force. This element of surprise may have been used by these KLIA robbers who rode a BMW and 4 wheel drives.
  13. having police around may not help..a more serious shoot out would have occurred and deaths would have been possible. the robbers were very determined..as the news said it looks like a do or die robbery..it's possible no policemen would have deterred them without having serious casualties. The robbers were obviously well prepared and obviously familiar with firearms, disciplined enuff to shoot their victims on the legs, note they were also confronting armed guards and killing them would have been easier for them, a novice would have aimed at the head and torso. Better have them get away with the money and track them later. It's merciful that no one died. Some Malaysian defense enthusiasts says at cari.com that the weapons they used were probably of high caliber..50 bullets were dispensed by the robbers. Even police do not want to tell us what kind of weapons were used. It's that bad.
