..without prior consultation with the state government (which reportedly subsidised the flights)..

Even if AK is making losses at that sector, they are not actually making any losses so they should be giving it more time as load is picking up.

"subsidised" dont mean that government takes the whole loss!

Normally an airport or an region pays a fixed price for every passengers on a new route...lets say ( just for example ) 30RM.

So if the yield is lower than expected, it could be really possible that AirAsia makes still a loss.

Dont forget, they reduced from daily to just 4 times a week first.

  3. Probably this will give a clearer justification on the issue. Well Mr. AK sir, perhaps you could enlighten us, just bare in mind that we can sense biases.

“They (AirAsia) cited load factor but the load was 75 per cent for the last four months,” Yong was quoted in the media.

With 75% load it was one of the worst AirAsia-Routes in the whole network!

I think i had read articles with "almost full flights"...

Once again, if Tony had make money with that route then it will not be canx!

  4. Malindo Air this week filed operational schedule for its planned service to Adelaide, the host city of World Routes 2019. The airline intends to operate Kuala Lumpur – Denpasar – Adelaide routing 4 times a week, with a mix of 737-800/-900ER aircraft, effective 31MAR19. Reservation is expected to open soon.

  9. He declines to provide exact figures on the carrier’s CASK and RASK, but says they have been “on increasing trends”.

Five years..no profits but mother in Indonesia pays all.

Chandran laments that not much has changed in recent years with regard to what he describes as “predatory pricing” by the other airlines. He questions the industry's sustainability should such practices continue.

Im sure he is talking about Thai Lion.. :acute:

  11. AirAsia X may commence services between Japan and US west coast with A330neo
    31-Jan-2019

AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail reportedly stated the airline will consider commencing services between Japan and the US West Coast with A330neo aircraft, due for delivery from 2020 (aviationwire.jp/Nikkei/impress.co.jp, 30/31-Jan-2019). Mr Ismail reportedly said the A330neo will have the range to reach Los Angeles and San Francisco from Japan. The airline currently operates Kuala Lumpur-Osaka-Honolulu service.

So far a rumour, but Tony twitterted that too last week when he visited the headquarter from Jet Blue in New York.

So maybe AirAsia X to LAX and / or SFO and from there further on Codehare or Interlining with Jet Blue to New York, Boston and Florida.
