  2. Is Malindo withdrawing from Colombo? I can't seem to be able to make any booking in April anymore. CMB is also taken out from destination selection drop down list.

Only flex and Business available....yes looks like they are going out!

They open some new routes but no new jets, so they have to canx other routes.

Looks like no fresh money from indonesia for Malindo...

A trade official warned Thursday that aviation giant AirAsia’s proposed acquisition of rival Nok Air may violate antitrust laws.

In recent days the trade floor at Stock Exchange of Thailand has been awash with speculation about AirAsia’s plans to buy a majority stake in Nok from the Jurangkool family. Nok shares have increased in value by 42 percent since word of the takeover came out last week, up from 2.28 baht to 3.24 baht per share on the Thai exchange.

Nok Air reported a loss of 970 million baht in 2018. Asia Aviation said it had net profits of 340 million baht in that year.

  4. Do you know that AAP ist just the Holding for Thai AirAsia and nothing more?

And is owned by 45% by AirAsia....

They cannot do anything "on their own"

All Jets from NOK are leased, so you can say goodbye to all the jets maybe within a year or 2. And then turn over the slots in the morning to Thai AirAsia.

And of course end then the cooperation with SQ on Nokscoot.

You can be sure that AAP will not buy just 5% stake on NOK to give them some fresh cash ...

I think if proceed, this will be an investment by the Asia Aviation Plc (AAP) on its own

BANGKOK (REUTERS) - Thailand's Asia Aviation Pcl, the owner of low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia, on Monday (Feb 25) said it was considering to buy a stake in rival Nok Airlines, sending its share prices soaring.

"The company is currently considering whether such investment is appropriate," chief financial officer, Santhat Sanguandikul, said in a statement, referring to acquiring shares from the billionaire Jurangkool family, sending Nok Air's share prices up 13 per cent.

The company has a market capitalisation of 9.3 billion baht (S$401 million) and the stock is currently trading at 3.06 baht, its highest since March 2018.

NOK is near the end, cheap to buy.

A lot of Slots at DMK and you can close NokScoot on the LCC-Longhaul market out of DMK.

"The reality is many can't [survive]. Only a few are doing well, namely AirAsia, Lion Air, VietJet and Cebu Pacific. The rest struggle to make ends meet," warned Shukor Yusof, founder of and analyst at the Singapore-based Endau Analytics.

He sees Nok Air in Thailand, Malaysia's Malindo and a slew of smaller airlines in Indonesia at risk of bankruptcy.

  7. Back in 2017 there was the discussion about Malindo Air:
Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd has decided to shift its jet operations from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to klia2, because it is a full service carrier and wants to “ensure sustainable growth and to provide comfortable services to passengers”, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

So in 2017 KLIA1 was more comfortable in the eyes of Malindo...
And folks, yes its really a difference if you are walking around in the satelitt, the quality of the shops, state of the art departure gates...
Compare that to the long and dark waiting area in KLIA2 with nearly no shops when you are waiting at the gate.
But in the end, Malaysian airports have to decide if they want growth!
LCC-Growth all around the world goes in line with lower costs, "cheaper packages" or whatever you call it.
More growth means more passengers, more tourists etc...

  8.

Mayor of Miri City Council Adam Yii supports the idea and describes the plan as apt in the desire to develop Sarawak’s tourism industry.

“I love to see Miri connected directly to Chengdu and Chongqing in China, Seoul and Pusan in Korea, Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, Taipei in Taiwan, Pontianak in Kalimantan (for the medical and educational potentials) as well as Sydney and Melbourne in Australia,” he said

    :drinks: :db:
