  1. Some input from MAVCOM on integrated terminals, explaining why the decline in KUL traffic last year. Interesting comparison and explanation of reasons for the development of the airport. Of course it does not discuss the finer things like customer services etc but its a start with the new gomen conducting studies on the growth of KUL in view of intense competition from SIN and BKK. Also worth knowing that they use the terms T1 and T2 in reference to KLIA and KLIA2 :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Lol they really compare KUL with BKI? :search:

And where are 3 Terminals in BKK? I only know one!

And the "lower hub connectivity" from KUL against SIN is because of SQ in SIN and not the regional airline MAB in KUL!

  2. https://www.nst.com.my/business/2019/04/480023/citilink-indonesia-says-it-has-no-plan-establish-business-malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Garuda Indonesia's subsidiary Citilink Indonesia says it has no plan yet to establish a business entity in Malaysia.

Dismissing reports linking it with such plans as “misleading”, Citilink however said it was continuously growing and expanding its business in Indonesia and other regional countries.

“In respond to the news regarding Citilink Indonesia establishing an entity in Malaysia through partnership with local Malaysian General Sales Agent (GSA), the management would like to deny the misleading information.

“As a member of Indonesian Flag Carrier Garuda Indonesia, Citilink Indonesia has no plan yet to establish a business entity in Malaysia, whether in a short or long term. Hereby, Citilink Indonesia strongly denies the publication of such misleading information,” it said today.

  3. Comparing dxb, ahu and doh; proximity is not a growth obstacle, airport play a role/contribute to traffic growth. If dxb is a cowshed, could ek be like today?

You can not compare transit hubs like DOH or AUH with a city like Bangkok which is the most visited city all around the world.

  4. Do you honestly think airlines decide where to fly based on the number of USB ports an airport has? Or how high they rank on some ranking by an organisation that is taken seriously by precisely zero serious travellers? The "preferred" airport (whatever that means) is where the money is. BKK and SIN aren't busier or more "preferred" because they have nicer toilets, but because they have bigger markets. BKK can have a chowshed terminal and it'd still be well ahead of KUL in terms of passenger numbers.

    *like*

The same case with AirAsia X. They are growing where the bigger market is....Bangkok! Especially from markets like Japan, Korea, China or maybe someday Europe.

  5. Very good - more competition is always good for the consumer, provided that it is sustainable and not wasteful.

Cheap cheap cheap and cheaper....here we go:

    • Competition in the international market has been intensifying, pressuring yields.
    • Five of the six airlines based in Malaysia were unprofitable in 2018 and the outlook for 2019 is not any rosier.

China is Malaysia’s third largest international market based on seat capacity. Indonesia and Singapore are the two largest markets based on seat capacity (and are also the largest based on visitor numbers).

AirAsia/AirAsia X, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo now serve all of Malaysia’s top 10 international markets. Malaysia has become an extremely competitive market.

Of the six Malaysia-based airlines, only one was profitable in 2018: Malaysia AirAsia, which reported a 54% drop in pretax profit.

The outlook for 2019 is again relatively gloomy. Malindo is resuming expansion, which could impact AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines as yields on some routes are again pressured.

    When you preorder its RM10.

And hey.."small portion"...then order 2 meals for RM20.....thats less then 5 USD oder around 4 Euro.

In which world you are living? What do you expect for RM10?

Compare it with other airlines in the region..Scoot for example.

  7. SEPANG, 10 April 2019 - AirAsia spreads its wings to the historical state of Melaka with new daily direct flights from Penang starting 1 July 2019.

The new flight will boost tourist arrivals to the city, helping to support the state governments target to attract 20 million visitors in 2019.

AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said, With its UNESCO world heritage listing and rich history, Melaka is one of the number one places to visit in Malaysia. This new route further strengthens our tourism footprint in Malaysia, providing more options for international visitors to travel between the states of Penang and Melaka.

We look forward to continuing our work to explore even more new routes to Melaka from other parts of our Asean network.

  8. Nok seems to have serious problems now:

The Transport Ministry is keeping a close eye on troubled budget carrier Nok Air after a "worrying" sign on its balance sheet was detected, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
