  1. Thursday 12 November 2009 Love it or hate it, that red cheatline is exactly what makes this livery so striking!
  2. What a pity I only came back this morning on 3K673 (VH-VGZ). But still managed to see this (82-0192): Apologies for the lousy image quality! Shot through the tinted glass using a compact!
  3. Wow! Well done Wilson! Great shots of N707MQ and 9M-MPL! PEN spotters, I have fresh info that N707MQ will be departing on Saturday 24OCT09 at 1000h, and won't be returning anymore. Darn... I won't be around... but it's a good chance for you all to catch her. Hope the weather is good and I look forward to seeing the shots from you guys!
  4. Haven't had time to photograph the Hajj charters, which depart right smack in the middle of the day at 1130h. Anyway, for the record, 9M-MPL operated MH8006/22OCT09.
  5. So it really appeared! Expected schedule as follows: 22OCT09 STD:1000h STA:1800h 23OCT09 STD:1000h I won't be free to photograph her at the scheduled departures/arrivals... hopefully someone (Wilson?) will have the time to do so! And btw, today's Hajj MH8002/21OCT was operated by 9M-MPL.
  6. Same as last year - MH B744s. Rumour has it that N707MQ Omega Tanker will be in and out of PEN from today until 23OCT09! Sorry I don't have the STA/STDs though!
  7. Phase 1 of this year's Hajj operations begins on 21OCT09. MH8002/21OCT STD:1130h PEN-MED MH8006/22OCT STD:1130h PEN-MED MH8010/23OCT STD:1130h PEN-MED MH8014/24OCT STD:1130h PEN-MED MH8036/03NOV STD:1130h PEN-JED MH8040/04NOV STD:1130h PEN-JED MH8044/05NOV STD:1130h PEN-JED MH8078/15NOV STD:1930h PEN-JED MH8082/16NOV STD:1930h PEN-JED
  8. Arrgghh... haven't been able to photograph VGZ over the past few days due to bad weather... Anyway... some shots from today, Tuesday 20 October 2009: B-HNG B777-367 CX692 PEN-HKG Rotating on 04 with a rainbow in the background 9M-AHQ A320-216 Still can't believe it took me so long to finally get a decent shot of this! Rainbow over the airfield this morning... it lasted for a mere 10 to 15 minutes. Traffic at PEN is EXTREMELY slow. It is only once in a blue moon that we get something special. On average, there's one departure/landing every twenty minutes, so in between, we photograph other flying objects. Can anyone identify the 'aircraft type'?
  9. Hey Wilson, I was slightly south of the bus-stop location, in front of someone's house. But I've had to stand on my car when I photograph. Suggest you 'take shelter' inside your car when you're not shooting and keep your ladder out of sight? Some shots from yesterday, Saturday 17 October 2009: 9M-AFQ A320-216 AK5351/17OCT09 PEN-KUL VH-VQH A320-232 3K0673/17OCT09 SIN-PEN
  10. Tuesday 13 October 2009 3K674 VH-VQH PEN-SIN SQ192 9V-SRO SIN-PEN This is one photograph that will go into the history books in one and a half month's time...
  11. Thanks MIR... 9M-NAA and VH-VQH (Go Roos) came this morning in heavy rain unfortunately. And in case anyone was at PEN and witnessed FX5293 making a spectacular low-level go-around, it was due to windshear warning.
  12. Eh... LeeCH, this news had been out one week ago. SilkAir takes over all flights effective 01Dec09, not 01Nov09.
  13. Nice shots Wilson! Back in PEN? Yes weather has been horrible recently. I have been trying so hard to photograph the VH-registered Jetstars and the newly delivered Tigers (9V-TAK, 9V-TAL) but just wasn't successful! Luckily it's only been VH-VQN these few days. Hope the weather will turn better when the specials come in. Photograph the 9V-SRx aircraft while you can... it will be 9V-SVx effective NW09 and then no more from 01Dec09!
  14. Effective 01Dec09, all SQ flights to/from PEN will be replaced by MI. The last SQ flight operating from PEN shall hence be SQ191/30Nov09. For those yet to photograph SQ B777s in PEN, make use of the remaining two months!
  15. Thanks Liam and KC... I'm out of PEN currently and am unable to photograph VQQ. Anyway weather in PEN has been horrible of late (and caused quite a few diversions due to the unserviceable ILS). Better luck next week!
  16. Saturday 19 September 2009 Here's something you won't normally see at PEN... not that difficult to see why! And SQ192/19SEP09 was diverted to KUL this morning. ILS at PEN is not working and pilots are having to perform VOR/DME approaches. With this, the decision height is much higher at 950ft for runway 04. Due to thunderstorm activity and low cloud base, several flights this morning were diverted or were holding in the air for quite a while before landing. What a day!
  17. Thanks Liam... that means we'll be getting VH-registrations here in PEN? Fantastic news!!!! Can't wait to photograph the specials!
  18. Wow... stunning shots of stunning subjects from home, Hoe Jyh and Tsen Tsan!!
  19. And here's B-KPF departing PEN as CX692 for HKG. Pity the weather wasn't great, and here is the one and only shot I managed to get with the faintest ray of light reflecting off the fuselage. Many thanks to all those who messaged me to inform me about her! Fab: STD for CX692 is 0755h.
  20. Oh I'm greedy... so the landing shot ain't enough... I'm still going to try waking up early to get the rotation shot! BTW, 9V-SRE Star Alliance is due to operate SQ192/191 tomorrow, if anyone's interested!
  21. Whoahoho... what a surprise to log into MW and see this thread alive again! Yes, what a day! I was initially so bored with the traffic here that I decided to leave at around 6pm... thinking that CX was probably going to send in the usual stuff as well, but I don't know why I decided to u-turn and went back to continue. So when this thing appeared from behind the trees, I was leaping with joy. Finally... finally finally finally... B-KPF operating CX693 from HKG arriving on runway 22. And some other interesting shots from today...
  22. Saturday 18 July 2009 PEN welcomes Tiger Airways' inaugural SIN-PEN service operated by 9V-TAF. MAB just can't do a proper water canon salute!
  23. Wednesday 01 July 2009 Inaugural 3K675 (SIN-PEN) operated by 9V-JSC receiving half a water canon salute, because one of the fire trucks broke down just as the aircraft was taxiing into Bay 7! How inauspicious!
  24. Wednesday 17 June 2009 Awesome!!!!
  25. Monday 15 June 2009 CI732 retimed to deaprt at 1750h in lovely evening light! CX693 is operated by their B777-367ERs on Mondays. B-KPA touching down very gracefully on 04. Love those huge GE90s!
