  1. KC, Nice nose jobs of the cargo jumbos! And Kingfisher's super red interior is surprisingly beautiful in your photos. Could have easily been an overkill though.
  2. Yes, XAA unfortunately... Same bird back to OOL, but much better cuz seated in row 1 (XL).
  3. Tony

    call sign

IIRC, that's how it has been done traditionally. East/North-bound = Even numbers West/South-bound = Odd numbers No set rules to say you can't change the flight numbering system for your airline.
  4. Nice shots, Min! Love the 2nd last one - awesome!
  5. I flew D7 XL from KUL to OOL earlier in the year. Price was very competitive to MH Economy full fare, but XL has so much more legroom and seat width. And the XL cabin will look even sexier with flatbeds!
  6. Confirm! 150,000% better than sliding seats!!
  7. On second thought, if they can drive the prices REALLY low (and I do mean very competitive pricing) without jeopardising service on-board, I might still prefer MH over an LCC like D7.
  8. If a 5-star airline starts charging people for what they use, I'd rather refer to it as an LCC. Yes the service model needs a change - but for better, not for worse please.
  9. Makes sense to me if AK and D7 merges. Most people I talked to about these two airlines thought they were the same airline anyway!
  10. I'd rather resign than be sacked. Looks better on record. As for fatigue being an issue... As long as EK has provided the their crew with sufficient rest, as per aviation regulations (which should address the fatigue issue) and crew EBA's, the company has no control on how the crew exercise their layover period for "rest". The pilot was in MEL for 24 hours, meaning EK has provided him with 24 hours of rest (maybe less after taking away times for sign-on, sign-off, hotel transfer etc). Yes he flew 99 out of the 100 permitted per 28 days, but the fact is he was well within the rostering limits. So in this case, sufficient rest was provided, his roster was legal, but the flight was less than pleasant. Somehow his ar$e is just got on the line...
  11. I wonder how "sensitive" the radars are set to, by default. And storm cells don't "just appear", do they?
  12. Yes, they can enter a contractual agreement to "lock away" certain gates for the airline.
  13. They are actually running safety demos on certain flights with nothing on but bodypaint only. Amazing!
  14. Sounds like there may be more than one database holding the flight info - and airlines can choose whether to transmit them to the world, or not. Flight ops usually will have the most detailed timings, but these timings are not necessarily fed on-the-second to ground services. Say, for a 30-minute delay, Ops may have retimed the flight for exactly 30 mins, but Ground service might have only been told of a 10-minute delay. Off the top of my head, I know of at least 3 different programs that an airline need to use to update flight times. And the fun part is, they do not interact with each other, so it depends entirely on what the user updates it to.
  15. Not too sure then. But I tried searching for an MH flight ex-KUL and it seems to display the info. http://is.gd/1llUV
  16. The French asking for long range Airbuses to be grounded? I somehow doubt it.
  17. Cool! Seems like the skier is trying to avoid being sucked into the mega-hairdryer!
  18. Don't quote me on this, but IIRC the airline updates the flight info, which will then be transmitted to a central computer for the info to be displayed on boards/tv. All flights sorted by departure time, of course.
  19. Reportedly an A330-200, according to the Australian media.
  20. Remember reading somewhere that one of NW flights recently reported an incident relating to pitot tube icing. I'll reconsider trips on A330 just as a safeguard. Oh wait, I'm flying the SQ A330 in late November...
  21. nippy little idea to make flying even CHEAPER!
  22. Dearest AAX CEO, Personally I find all your Economy seats to be too narrow even for my skinny bottom. Cheerios!
