  1. If this is the case, then there needs to be a reorganization at MAS. Management that is efficient results in an airline that is efficient. You can't have hard workers putting in the long hours along side slackers, in fact there should not be a need to have dead weights and an overstaffed dept. They are a burden to the hard working men and women at MAS.
  2. I've heard from Singaporeans, there are quite a few resort, golf courses and brothels, it's a place of entertainment for Singaporeans and Johoreans. Be prepared to pay in sing dollars.
  3. Thanks Gavin. You've been a great help, I've passed the email address to my friend.
  4. Hi, Does anyone know how to get in touch with TF. A friend is trying to invite him for this forum at MMU and would love for him to be a speaker. Couldn't find his contact details, also the air asia office do not list their corporate telephone number, only their call center hotline. Helmi
  5. Yup, I agree... seriously lacking in right stuff. Even with SQ poaching many talented Malaysians, MH should be able to do better. Take a look at what AK's spin doctors come up with routinely and these guys work with less resources than the mighty government backed MH. Classic AK marketing, witty, attention seeking and does the job.
  6. OT: When MH got rid of their menu cards and now flash the menu options on the PTVs, I'm quite surprised it wasn't given a proper spin that it clearly deserved. The spin boys down at MH HQ should have toyed with the idea of saying look here chumps, we at MH are green, we don't waste paper on printing a menu. Add to that they could say that the snack boxes are made from recycled materials and saves on weight so less carbon emissions by the aircraft. bla bla bla. Looking at the current worries, being Green is a far acceptable reason to be cheap, not this Five Star Value Carrier mambo jumbo.
  7. So will you also be going on the Milford Track? Heard great things about it.
  8. Surely the parameters couldn't be for their stellar award winning service. I'm speculating that the parameters are somewhere along the lines of BG bringing in the largest number of passengers to KUL for an international carrier, afterall BG does send slave ships full of migrant workers to KUL. Though, would have thought SQ being the largest international carriers serving KUL, not BG.
  9. Which should be the ideal case. Unfortunately when travelling overseas I think the policy is MAS first, even when they overcharge compared to SQ or TG.
  10. http://img.skitch.com/20080609-e3fawcq4125...qdgmg43mkxt.jpg ^^Tu dia, makan dengan penuh semangat. You should send this photo to AK, makes me hungry for briyani, it's the perfect advert. hmm.. I guess it's time to hunt and gather for some biryani myself. On a side note, http://img.skitch.com/20080609-2twkd7q392rkqtjdjhnbstcg2.jpg There's a mamak in Subang SS19 with the same name "sri melur jaya", the font and oval logo looks like the same one too. Are these guys the caterers??? Can someone confirm? I've never tried their Biryani's at that mamak but I can vouch that they offer an absolutely amazing curry.
  11. Even if AirAsia added those in, food and checked baggage, I think the difference will still be cheaper on Air Asia. I recently booked a rtn flight to BKK on the MAS 0 fare, I think I paid RM507 on taxes and surcharges, if I had managed to get an AirAsia fare for RM0 I would have saved big, alas there were no cheap fares on AK for the dates I wanted. What isn't included in the costs is the added stress for flying AK. Morning and evening rush hour at the LCCT, when it's full to the brim, packed like sardines, it makes for a stressful journey, the delays and being bored in that tin shed with hard plastic seats, making that mad dash to the plane, these are the hidden costs for paying low fares. At least with KLIA, you get the full amenities of the Main Terminal. Is that worth some of the huge differences in what you pay for MH and AK? I guess that depends.

  13. Everything else is understandable, but frequent flier status?? What the!! How can this help on the war on terror? Are HON Circle status more likely to be terrorists than Senator Status? Are SkyTeam elite status holders inherently evil people???? Weird one.
  14. OT: but it seems that the French seem keen on building aviations pahllic symbols. Look Boeing hahaha.. Mine is LONGER than yours A346, look at mine again Boeing it's also LARGER than yours A388. Airbus needs to know that it's not the equipment that matters it's how it performs, delays are a big put off for their partners.
  15. I thought it was obvious, clearly Proton should take them.
  16. Well done Air One, hate the livery but love their competitive spirit. Good on them for taking advantage of Alitalia when their down!.
  17. LoL, "the colour will be brighter". Ryan, it's going to be brighter!! So Hell yes that will help retain the premium customers. Don't you know people are willing to pay bigger bucks for kindergarten inspired coloured seat covers and carpets, forget AK's leather seats, SQ's Singapore Girl and IFE with the largest Business class and First Class seats, MH has the shiznitz of a hardware product offering. Thus like girly tweens being attracted to bright colours, so will the premium passengers desert SQ et al. Seriously MH management must be paying premium moolah for their brains because it certainly shows. Bravo!
  18. On the new website, you have to pick country of residence, just like the old. There's an error that hasn't been changed since I've known and can remember the MH website. But I don't know if people have noticed it, but when you choose the country of residence since when was "North America" a country and also I know of Sweden but where abouts is this country MH calls "Nordic Sweden". Doesn't look too professional.
  19. True, and I believe Bvlgari has a resort there also, quite a coup for Bali. Anyways my point was that Bali has mass tourism, whilst Langkawi doesn't. Langkawi doesn't draw the large backpacker crowd like Bali. It sort of caters more to a certain crowd, the family types, the couples looking for quiet romance. People looking for quiet down time by the beach. Bali on the other hand caters to mass tourists, has it for everyone, has the volume from the backpacker types, also the middle and higher end holiday makers.
  20. Let's remember Langkawi only gets Silk Air as it's only non Malaysian international carrier that has scheduled flights to the island, not exactly long haul traffic. Bali on the other hand actually does have long haul international traffic, for the same reason that Phuket also receives them, these 2 islands both have exposed themselves for mass tourism. But that's the real beauty of Langkawi, it doesn't appeal to smelly backpackers for some reason, it's just not on their map. If Langkawi were to properly whore itself out to mass tourists, not just middle aged ang mohs and rich arabs looking for a quiet place, then perhaps it'll be different. Perhaps we'll see LTU and Condor fly in the dreaded German tourists, Jetstar flying in rowdy Aussie Yobs. But anyways, I agree with you, still sleepy-developing Langkawi can't attract in the international long hauls, just yet. To some degree however, that's a good thing. Tourism Malaysia seems to be picky with their tourists, they love arabs, old white people, but never the "teenage till 20 something" backpacker on his gap year looking for adventure and perhaps get laid with the locals and/or other traveling backpackers. The marketing of the islands and the country is definitely to a certain segment of holiday makers and not going for the mass volumes. However fill Langkawi with plenty of cheap hostels and crap dorms, a lot of bars and clubs, get the word out that its a fun and happening place, only then can I foresee the international long hauls coming in, that Langkawi can truly be an international airport, Ministers stopping their ridiculous torrent of whining about the lack of int' flights.
  21. frontal shots remind me of skittles... "taste the rainbow" adverts. I see what MH is trying to do. They have old-ish planes especially compared to their competitors, so this is a way MH sees that can distract passengers from this fact; by making the planes more fun and loud masking their aged look. Hey, at least they are trying. I give it to MH, they try hard these days... they try very hard, to the extent that it actually shows they're trying TOO hard. Why fix when it's not broke? I just hope it's a temp measure, at least until the new 737NG come online. It would be REALLY bad if some MH management types think this is actually a good idea and they further implement these seats fleet wide, adding them on to 777, 747. Making them synonymous with MH and Malaysian Hospitality (we blind you with bright colours). Can you imagine these seats on an A380 or new 737NGs?
  22. Is it just me, or does AK's dark black leather seats on a dark maroon red carpeting look much more classier than MH's kindergarten inspired, mixed colours seat scheme?? A low cost carrier A business class, frills orientated airline I guess this is what five star value carrier means. Nice one
  23. I'm going to wait until I see them on the plane. Who came up with the color scheme and what were they on? LSD/Acid?
  24. I agree... I browsed through it, wasn't appealing at all. Read, Richard Branson's Loosing my Virginity. Much better.
