  2. Nice video of the inaugural but what dance are they performing?
  3. True that. They have both, Hindu and Christian pilgrimage areas. For the HIndu's, there are many temples there within the TRZ area and Thanjavur whereas for the Christians, they have Vellankani which is located 90 minutes towards the coast. Before AK and TRZ, MH and AI used to have plane loads of pax to MAA who would then continue their journey to various destinations within South India including TRZ, BLR, HYD, COK etc.
  4. Yes indeed. The reason given is lower than expected travel for the GE14. Haha!! Are they valid reasons? By the way who is Mr. Bubbalo?

  6. Oh yes IAD is crazy with the long long lines at the immigration and I avoid flying into IAD and prefer JFK instead. Speaking of KULs' long lines, I think they either have an unexpected increase in arrivals OR the counters opened are not sufficient. MAHB should look into this. On another note, does anyone notice that the font and colours used for the new signages are not on par with the standard fonts they use at KLIA1? Just an observation.
  7. Yes true that and in fact they are the same builders

  9. Oh dear !! How unhygienic if there is truth to it !!! Any source? On another note, the reason why KLIA2 has aerobridges is because of the enforcement of anti-people smuggling, which was initiated and mooted by the MoT and DCAM previously. I don't think AK and D7 have anything to do with that enforcement. Speaking of service quality, I don't see any positive outcome from their hyped up improvements. Please visit the toilets at KLIA1 and you will see how filthy the toilets are; now that is not the fault of the operators entirely, the people who use it also play a part in the upkeep of the toilets. Just have a look at our malls and the way the people use it, bidets in the toilet bowl, tissues everywhere on the floor, pee and other remanence in and outside the toilet bowl, rubbish in the sink, plastic stuffed into the toilet bowl and etc. Having said that, the operators of the airport do not maintain them well, using really cheap detergents, lack of toilet rolls, unrepaired bidet and etc. The lights in KLIA1 are so dim at night and poor air-conditioning at both KLIA1 and KLIA2 (cost saving measures). If any of you notice, the observation deck or area is very warm throughout the day. In Changi T1, I can sit at the observation deck/area the whole day if I could comfortably. Parking lot at KLIA1 has just gotten more and more difficult for regular passengers or picking up as they have now converted the L2 for premium parking. Ancillary income perhaps Customer services at both the terminals are not at its best. They can do better, customer centric or a simple smile and courtesy can go a long way. However, our front liners are either grumpy or think the world owes them a living, poor manners. What standards are they referring to? What kind of benchmark are they focused on? Who assesses their service standards? How is it that they hype up their services when it does not tally with the realities? Oh well, just my point of view based on my own experience traveling through KUL. Honestly, I used to support KUL and our national carrier, maybe even claim to be their number one supporter myself but now I cannot say the same because of uncountable negative encounters. Let's hope 2019 will bring about some change.
  10. I wonder what standards are they basing these targets on
  11. Yes and despite having multiple sectors a day, they still can perform better than some of them on my MH flights recently who only have one sector (long haul) I actually asked for a drink and he brought water instead of the drink tray. He was like that with the others too, so nothing personal with me I guess Yeah it has become so casual these days on MH, I remember how we used to love the MH announcements and the way they speak because they were so professional yet today they have lost most of it. The inflight announcements which were done by the chief purser was quite good albeit because he is the leader and also from a different generation who spoke with great articulation. Having said that, I do believe that MH is not a lost cause as there is still hope. With this hot news shared by Josh Cahill, I hope MH will make the necessary changes to improve their services.
  12. I recently flew with them on their flagship route and aircraft and I must say that there is something lacking in their cabin service. It is not consistent and their crew definitely seemed to have a chip on their shoulder, not all but most of them on the flights I was on. The meal services are not consistent and they lack terribly in their service qualities. Mid flight snacks were not distributed evenly and despite being awake, they missed a few rows in economy and mind you, the flight was overbooked that night. I recall pressing the crew button above my seat and when the senior crew came, he was like "Yes?" with such a pissed off gesture and body language. When I asked for a snack, he brought the snack and a cup of water, leaving me with no choice but to have water as he decided that for me. Haha and the list goes on. So why do we have incompetent people like that on our national carrier tarnishing our image? Everyone has their bad days and I am sure they do too but come on? As much as I want to support MH, I am no longer drawn to them especially on long haul. I must say AK have better and lively cabin services.
  13. After 7-year hiatus, AirAsia resumes KL-Kuantan route today KUANTAN: Low cost carrier, AirAsia Berhad (AirAsia) has reintroduced its Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan route after the service was ceased about seven years ago. According to station manager M. Hari Tharan, the return of the daily flights on Airbus 320 aircraft was to meet growing travel demand to and from the East Coast. “The A320 aircraft can take up to 180 passengers at one time. “On the first Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan flight today, we had 141 passengers and on the return flight there were 157 passengers on board. “Every day, AirAsia will provide a two-way trip and should there be more demand, we may increase the number of flights,” he said when met by reporters at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport here today. “The fare to Kuantan is as low as RM35 and this may be one of the main factors why locals and tourists choose to travel on AirAsia,” he said adding that the budget airline might hold special promotion where tickets could be bought much cheaper. Meanwhile, Malaysian Airports manager, Md Zulkifli Farid Zakaria said he was confident that the AirAsia service between Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan would bring more tourists to Pahang. “Every day this airport receives the arrival of 600 to 700 passengers and during peak season this can reach up to 1,000 people. A passenger, Helmi Abdul Jamil, 40, said the flight was comfortable and much faster than having to drive on his own. “In future I will take this flight more often as it is more convenient and the fare is reasonable,” he said. — BERNAMA

Direct flight between Malaysia and Germany on Condor Airlines KUALA LUMPUR: Condor Airlines landed at the KL International Airport (KLIA1) for the first time this morning, making it the 58th passenger airline to use the airport. It will be the only airline to offer a direct flight between Malaysia and Germany. Its Kuala Lumpur (KUL)-Frankfurt (FRA) route will be three times a week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The FRA-KUL route will be on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. "Likewise, European travellers have the chance to discover beautiful Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. By connecting two cities that are of the same importance for their respective regions, we can promote economic and cultural exchange. This is something we as an airline always particularly encourage".
  15. Yes indeed, their A332 services out of KUL has seen better days. QR on the other hand claims that their A330s are a better product than some of their other aircrafts. Oh well, no consistency between KUL and QR services despite the Oneworld connection. Good news nevertheless for KUL.

  19. Finally an Indian carrier that flies to Malaysia
  20. Oh ok thanks for the information Yes that was the plan I thought but they are not really utilizing their A332 as much or so it seems. PER folks seem to be very loyal to SQ, EK, QR, OD, D7 and of course QF. I think MH has almost lost their presence in PER, especially so after the two incidents and their withdrawals from mainland Europe.
  21. Does anyone know if MH has added frequencies between KUL and NRT? I noticed they have a red eye flight from KUL departing at 0220LT and arriving into NRT at 1030LT and then departing NRT at 1200LT and arriving into KUL at 1825LT using the flight numbers MH50 and MH51. I also noticed that MH88 and MH89 as well as MH70 and MH71 are operating as usual.

  23. Agreed and in addition, both AK and OD have contributed to destinations not served by many carriers especially mainline carriers.
