Oh yes they have updated their website - good to know CGK flights will be back to KUL on some days albeit thrice weekly and HKT will be four weekly via KUL. I also noticed that SIN will have both CGK and DPS tag-on for the time being effective 01NOV21

Interesting articles to read and somehow it feels like Malaysians are undermined as if we do not have our own brains to think for ourselves as to what image we have of any company or agencies. We do not need anyone to tell us what is the truth and what is not; leave that to us to think for ourselves. Giving excuses has led to the state we are in; excuses after excuses while decisions are made to restore one of the prides of Malaysia, nothing is really left now but memories. I kinda agree from an outsiders point of view. Sadly, they did not know how to manage fame and dollars when they got it.

Yeah I can't understand why they are pushing for AK when MH has a different target market. Could it be because they know something beyond? Do they feel KUL is not attractive enough to sustain full service carriers and premium flyers hence the merging? What will happen to connecting flights for MH long hauls? Maybe if this plan materializes, they should make AK the regional carrier, including widebodies to South, North and West Asia and make MH solely a long haul and ensure connection is possible across these two main airlines. Not sure how that will work economically. Just a thought.

The merger proposal was submitted two months after Khazanah announced in October this year that its corporate restructuring plan for the airline had failed, an issue it blamed on an overabundance of players in the domestic travel market. Khazanah’s Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) fully owns Malaysia Airlines, which has reported billions of dollars in losses over the last five years.Since taking over, Khazanah has implemented controversial shake-ups that saw thousands of people losing their jobs and the resignations of two foreign CEOs.The latest proposal came on the heels of another controversial “merger proposal” between UEM Sunrise owned by Khazanah and public-listed property firm Eco World Sdn Bhd, in what critics say smacked of a bailout in favour of the latter. Any similar attempt involving Malaysia Airlines, however, was bound to give ammunition to critics of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration, who have relentlessly accused the Pakatan Harapan government of being too free with disposing of government assets in a bid to inject much-needed cash. Sources spoke to FMT about what they described as a “highly questionable” proposal put forth to Khazanah, to merge Malaysia Airlines with another airline, adding that it was wrong on many counts. Interesting how we have a standard or quality measure based on an American benchmark which does not even meet their own standards. This is the way the world works I guess, living to the American benchmark 😄 This is just my personal opinion, no offence meant. On the new downgrade, it also states no code share agreements; so I wonder what happens to the code shares between MH and AA? Are they affected by this downgrade?
