  1. Hey guys I'm flying back from LHR to KUL in March. I still can't decide between BA and MH. Premium economy fare on BA is a bit high this time, so I'm probably going to be in Y this time. BA has got a newer plane (Boeing 789), but the Y seats are much narrower. It has better arrival time into KL, arriving at 3pm as opposed to MH arriving at 6pm. So which airline would you guys go for? The fares are broadly the same.
  2. Just landed in London. The flight took 15 hours and 25 minutes. There is an obvious difference between a 13 hour and a 15 hour fight. The crew on my flight made a smart decision to serve the second meal about 8 hours into the flight rather than 2-3 hours before landing due to hungry passengers.
  3. Departure for MH4 this morning delayed by about an hour.
  4. Thank you. However I have purchased my air ticket in advance so I'll stick to my original flight. I wonder if any announcement will be made in light of the longer flight time. Perhaps I shall treat this flight as a rather unique experience.
  5. Thanks. It seems that MH is the only airline taking such a routing? BA's flight time remains in the region of 13 hours. I'm really not looking forward to the longer flight time (even though I do love flying). This means that I'm arriving in London later in the evening. The entire journey is going to be even more tiring for me.
  6. I'm flying off to London on MH4 (morning flight) tomorrow. I just tracked the last few flights on Flightradar14 and Flightaware, and the delayed arrival times seem to suggest unusually long flight times of between 14 hours 30 minutes and 15 hours (it's usually about 13 hours). Can anyone enlighten me on this?
  7. Meal wise, it's not perfect but pretty decent I would say. My neighbour ordered an Asian vegetarian meal which turned out to be quite good. Quite a wide selection of drinks is available.
  8. Overall the Dreamliner experience has been wonderful. Cabin pressure and humidity are definitely better. I do love the big windows a lot but they do seem to take sometime to switch between different modes (dark to bright and vice-verse). The World Traveller Plus (WTP) seat (premium economy) is quite comfortable and the head rest provides excellent support. The only downside seems to be fact that it's a bit difficult to get out to the aisle. As I had priority boarding, I did also manage to sit on a World Traveller (economy) seat. It doesn't seem to be that narrow at 3-3-3 and I was able to pass through the aisle quite comfortably. In Y+, you get a business meal and an economy meal. One thing l liked is that you do get a small bottle of water together with your first meal. There is also a range of snacks in the 'tuck box' in the galley. I didn't use the IFE but I thought the selections were quite decent.
  9. Just got off this flight. We arrived 30 minutes ahead of scheduled time. I did also pay a visit to the cockpit. I spoke to one of the pilots and found out that the Boeing 789 didn't do the LHR-KUL flight at maximum payload.
  10. Oh god. I'm extremely unlucky as I'm taking this fight tonight. Give me the 789! The 77W is so boring. I'm praying hard hoping that they'll swap it back to a 789 tonight. I am on Y+ so there is no difference in the hard product itself, but still I want my Dreamliner.
  11. I guess the A333 would suffer from payload restrictions on KUL-AKL-KUL. Do you guys think that Y class on the B777-200ER would go 3-4-3? If new IFE is introduced, they would have to retrofit the aircrafts with new seats.
  12. At first they said that the decision to replace the existing fleet will be made by first quarter of year 2014. And now, by the end of 2014. I think this may come a bit too late.
  13. I wonder how is the condition of the cabins after the aircraft is being put out of service for quite some time.
  14. Why is MH bringing in a 747? I thought 5 A380s should be sufficient for LHR and CDG operations?
