  1. I'll be flying MH in Y mid May on the routes BKK-KUL, KUL-BKI, BWN-KUL and KUL-BKK. What is the current "state" of catering. All snackbox or anywhere to expect a proper meal? Thanks Georg
  2. they could have emailed the respective registered members, to inform them to re-setup their account... Now if I don't know of the changes and just browse to the site to do a booking with my account info (passport #, enrich #, etc...) i just can not make a booking instantly as atleast I don't know my passport # by heart... Well done
  3. Favourite Airline: MAS Favourite Aircraft: DC 10-30
  4. I'll be in Malaysia between May 19th and May 30th... so if there is any chance that it falls right into this time slot, pls count me in as well
  5. Just add anoter one. SQ334 bound for CDG had to divert to FRA due to engine 2 failure. Aircraft is 9V-SWA.
  6. i was flying LH a346 FRA-KIX recently, and to me it seemed a littlebit a mis-designed aircraft, at least in the LH edition. The toilets downstairs always have huge queues, and people queing up are blocking two small galleys where refreshments are prepared during the flight, which leads to a continuous pushing around etc.... and as I have been seated in the rear cabin, I could clearly feel a continous oscillating movement....never experienced that before on another airliner, neiter 747, 777 or a380.
  7. Too bad the job is not open to foreigners. I have a friend who is working in austrias aviation industry in the charter sector who would be more than eager to move
  8. I think MAS has kind of a hen-egg problem: I can not offer enough frequencies on good routes, so I don't attract enough (high yield) biz-pax. Because I do not have enouge high yield biz-pax I can not justify for enough frequencies. So i close another good route and wonder that I lose even more pax... One of my teachers of my university days once told me: The only way to get away of recession is massive expansion, and not shrinking, as the cost per unit gets even higher (the big overheads don't change that much, but you transport/produce less), which makes you even less competitive. Another thing is the necessity of diversification: You have to stand out compared to your competitors in something to be successful: SQ has created it's singapore dream and offers a good network. EK offers cheap fares on Y and makes a lot of press because of its sheer size. MH? Once it was known for one of the best service products _AND_ a good network. But these days seem to vanish fast.
  9. Yes there are turbolences even up there. Just fly over the andaman sea and you see what I mean But worst inflight turbulences I encountered where on my trip to Los angeles, first over the ocean and another time over the rocky mountains. It was strong enough turbulence that the flight attendants tied themselves to their seats
  10. According to travelinside, Singapore Airlines is offering 10 weekly flights out of Zurich by March, and is topping up to 2 daily flights (one mid-day, one evening flight) with the start of summer flight plan. Both flights shall operate with Boeing 777-300. As we all know, our beloved Malaysian Airlines is pulling out of Zurich in a few weeks... So how comes that SQ can fill 2 flights a day, but MH not 4 flights a week?
  11. Inflight internet has already been reality (just remember conexxion by Boeing), and strangely there was no such discussion, it worked and everybody held to unspoken rules. So why shall it become a problem now? The more irritating thing i guess is the usage of mobile phones. I am not afraid of talking - this is already possible for ages via the sat phones built into your seats remote controls, but have you ever seen anybody using it? No, because it is too expensive. Probably usage via your personal handphone will rise a littlebit as its less complicated and you probably don't know how expensive it is. I am afraid of all the ringtones for SMS and thelike... thiss will really be an annoying problem if not adressed.
  12. It's a shame! Before they offer such crap quality they should not offer anything at all. Even more cost saving, huh? But wasn't it to be expected? Bye bye 5*.
  13. The size might be well acceptable, but the QUALITY of the food is just poor. Tastles and of limp consistency... By the way, sandwiches are rather expensive as there is lot of manual action involved in peperation. Why not simply serve some cup noodles... they should be cheaper and even the cheapest brand will taste better.
  14. sorry for hijacking the thread, but are there any flights from KUL/SZB to Ipoh? I can't find anything, neither on MAS hp nor Air Aisa hp. I know I've been doing this flight some years ago....
  15. Well that is the problem with short haul C Class in all european carriers. They use standard Y-Seats, but leave the seat next to you free (if its a 3-in-a-row) or just don't change anything. Lufthansa has a system where the middle seat cann be made smaller so to give a little more space to the passengers sitting besides it...it's just a joke. And so is catering. Catering in Y has more or less ceased to exist, and C catering nowadys is probably what was average in Y some years ago. The only advantage of flying C in Europe is the higher flexibility in rebooking and the lounge access (But mind you, Lufthansa business class lounges do NOT have complimentary internet access - you have to pay for that.....) So allthough Mas 737 C looks a bit dated, it's about 500% better than anything we are used here in Europe.
  16. Well financially it is not a problem for airbus - they are insured for all circumstances. So the ones who are griefing are the insurers and their backinsurers. But 3 accidents involving brakes in one way or the other do not shad a too god light on the always-weak-selling 346 series.
  17. according to a german online news agency, it took more than 8hrs to shut down the running engine.... (http://www.netscape.de/News-Newsticker/Airbus-Unfall-Toulouse-drei-Verletzte-Krankenhaus-515817009-0.html)
  18. not a good time for airbust 340-600 at the moment....3rd accident within 2 weeks... Glad nobody was killed in this accident... http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/...-5-injured.html a "stunning" picture: http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/flightbl...6accident2.html
