  1. sure the result will be "95,7% of all asked J-Cl passengers really like the new healthier seats and prefer them over conventional sats..." healthier because if someone is obese he won't fit in Of course there are systems available that widen your seating space, yet the seat pitch remains the same - which is a big turndown.
  2. Given that, according to statistics, on every flight there is one mobile phone switched on per 12 passengers I think you may well make up your mind what's the truth.... Avionik systems must be engineered to very high EMI standards, and even multiple cellphones switched on in the cockpit won't do any harm... But actually I am a fan of switched off mobile phones onboard.... I hate the imagination that during a night flight every fifteen seconds it goes "dip dip dip - diiiip diiip - dip dip dip...." somewhere in the cabin....
  3. According to a german aviation magazine, the 737-800 are leased from ILFC for 5 years. That would mean a long enough lease to prepare the A/C completely to one's specifications (usually prior before putting it into service...) So it seems that this is what MAS considers its new 5* product....
  4. if it's only short term lease, it would be financially not wise to change the interior. If they intend to change the interior, they would have surely done it before they put the aircraft into service. But as the a/c is planned for the longer routes like TPE, i don't think its very wise to have no C-Class at all... XL Airways is a low cost charter carrier, so not really equipped for premium pax. Also seat pitch would be quite narrow.
  5. None of the airlines mentioned above are ranked 5*.... Personally, I find this type of european business class horrible. Of course it adds flexibility, but as a customer my least concern is my supplier's flexibility. I want comfort, and I don't get it here. Big disadvandtage: As the seat pitch is the same as in eco, you can't work properly on your laptop, because it's just too cramped. Lufthansa came up with the idea to leave the middle seat free in a 3-3 seating configuration, and they also feature "sliding armrests" on some aircraft which make the seats a bit wider by the push of a button, yet it does not change the seatpitch. Personally, I don't want to pay about 3-4x the price from a regular eco ticket for a discounted C-Fare, and then end up like back in cattle class. And on most carriers, also the service product is poor....
  6. I'll be in KL between Jan 5 and Jan 9th - anyone who wants to take me out for spotting......pleaaassseeee Georg
  7. Not true. the oldest 737-400 was delivered on April 30, 1992. Average age of the 737-fleet is 15,2years.
  8. Source: http://www.avherald.com/h?article=4112d58d&opt=0 No good advertising for the A380....
  9. Correct! My bad, was a wrong press information I received.
  10. Aircraft Reg was EX-311, aged 28 Years
  11. First Choice MD11. And L1011 TriStar, allthough as of lack of spareparts it might end up sitting on the tarmac. Then I'll get me a Twin Otter for some djungle flying. If MD11 and L1011 not available, get me a 777. So many beautiful hours spent in there. I would get pilot licence and typerating for my aircraft and would fly them occasionally for fun. If I need to get to appointments, I'd rely on professional flight crews though.
  12. Who is FR? FR is the airline code for Ryan Air, and I doubt they are flying SIN-KUL?
  13. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...nterstitialskip And they don't even bother to offer proper food for purchase... But I don't think that this will be a rule model for modern air travel, more in the contrary - United will lose lots of customers. What happens to Passengers who are booked on codeshare flights? How can such a huge service difference within Star Alliance (Singapore Airlines vs. United) be acceptable? Georg
  14. first pictures of the Aircraft (EC-HFP) foun here: http://www.elmundo.es/albumes/2008/08/20/a...ajas/index.html just click through the numbered buttons on the side. The first take off run was aborted for technical reason, the accident happened at the 2nd take off.
  15. reported death toll has risen to 148 so far. Interestign detail: Before departure the aircraft was delayed due to technical problems....
  16. Correct: Queensland And Northern Territorial Air Service Has anyone contact info to the press office of qantas? Georg
  17. I noticed that. But can you collect Enrich miles with a ticket issued by AI? Georg
  18. ooops I should not read before the 1st coffee in the morning. My appologies
  19. I am looking for a flight from LAX to KUL in December, and I searched MH webpage. It's very interesting to see in the booking form the following: same for MH94. I was quite surprise to see this, and checked with the online timetable, and surprise surprise, it says that MH94/95 is operated by Malaysian Airlines. So....now, what's the truth? Georg
  20. if Iberia is 3rd, than this gives quite a good impression of the research results. Iberia is probably the worst european non-low-cost airline. Unpunctual, unfriendly, no service at all on intra-european flights (not even a drink!).
  21. ยด EK press office told me last week that 1st commercial a380 flight of EK will be Oct1st DXB-JFK.... so fast they change their mind. and they are not doing a first flight party... :-)
  22. Is there any chance to book a flight with Layang Layang's Short Skyvans? I'm in BKI next week, so it might be an opportunity.... Any hints or tips? I did not find any booking possibilities on the net... Cheers Georg
  23. next one to die is FAT - Far Eastern Air Transport from Taiwan, ceasing operations today. In January, China Airlines gave up its seat on the FAT board, and Feb18th the airline seeked bankrupcy protection for three month at taipei court. Obviously reorganization was not successful.
  24. if they plan to do so can they do this before may 15th please :-D
  25. nope, on those certain days TG was more than double price, and even AK was only very little cheaper, so I opted for my favourite airline Personally I don't care if its big AC or small AC.... Have been flying on Airbus A319 from Europe to US, so what :-D
