THAI Launches Direct Flights from Copenhagen-Phuket and Adds Flights to Copenhagen Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announces the launch of direct flights from Copenhagen to Phuket as well as additional flights from Bangkok to Copenhagen. Flights on these sectors will operate three times per week respectively, utilizing the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, with service commencing on 11 November 2011. These flights may be reserved immediately. Mr. Pandit Chanapai, THAI Executive Vice President of Commercial, said, “THAI is pleased to offer the first-ever direct flights from Copenhagen to Phuket giving passengers more choices and making it easier than ever to travel from Scandinavia straight into Phuket.” THAI’s flight TG953 is a 10-hour, 35-minute flight, departing Copenhagen on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 20.45 hours and arriving in Phuket at 13.20 hours the following day. On the return, passengers may take any of THAI’s daily flights from Phuket to Bangkok and connect on flights to Copenhagen. THAI will operate three additional flights per week on the route Bangkok to Copenhagen, with flight TG952 departing Bangkok on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 13.00 hours and arriving in Copenhagen on the same day at 18.45 hours. THAI already operates daily flights on the routes Bangkok-Copenhagen v.v. utilizing the Boeing 747-400 and also offers several flights per day on the route Bangkok-Phuket v.v. THAI Introduces Direct Flights from Bangkok to Brussels, Belgium Today (27 June 2011), Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced the introduction of direct flights to be operated thrice weekly non-stop on the route Bangkok – Brussels v.v., utilizing Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft, with service commencing on 17 November 2011. Mr. Pandit Chanapai, THAI Executive Vice President for Commercial, said, “THAI is pleased to introduce Brussels as its newest destination to serve the European Union (EU), as the only Southeast Asian carrier to operate non-stop flights on the route Bangkok-Brussels v.v. Flights to Brussels will serve business travel among the international community from Thailand and the European Union conducting state travel. Leisure passengers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France will also take advantage of direct flights into Bangkok, with passengers traveling beyond Bangkok to Thai domestic destinations and other parts of Southeast Asia.” THAI will operate a total of three flights per week from Bangkok to Brussels. THAI’s direct service on flight TG934 will depart Bangkok on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 00.30 hours and arrive in Brussels at 07.00 hours. On the return, flight TG935 will depart Brussels on the same day at 13.30 hours and arrive in Bangkok at 06.20 hours on the next day. Total flight time on the Bangkok-Brussels route is 12.30 hours and 10.50 hours on the return from Brussels-Bangkok. Brussels is THAI’s 72 nd destination. THAI will utilize Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on the Bangkok-Brussels v.v. route and can carry a total of 292 passengers with 30 seats in Royal Silk Class and 262 seats in Economy Class, with seats in all classes of travel equipped with personal screens and the latest in-flight entertainment system. Brussels is the capital of Belgium and the European Union. As Brussels is within close proximity to the Netherlands, THAI’s direct flight serves state travel conducted by officials from the International Court of Justice in The Hague as well as other international organizations headquartered in Brussels such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Flights on the route Bangkok-Brussels v.v. may be reserved as of 1 July 2011 onwards. THAI named Top 5 Airline Worldwide and Wins Skytrax Best Airline Economy Class Onboard Catering and Best Airline Economy Class Seat Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) was honoured at the 2011 Skytrax World Airline Awards in two categories, winning the title of Best Airline Economy Class Onboard Catering and also picking up the title for Best Airline Economy Class seat. THAI also placed 5th worldwide in the 2011 World’s Best Airlines category, moving up from 9th place in last year. Bangkok, 28 March 2011 – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) received the first delivery of five A330-300 aircraft with newly installed economy class seats by the German seat supplier, ZIM Flugsitz GmbH. Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said as part of the company’s continued aircraft enhancement program, since the THAI Board’s approval in June 2010, THAI is pleased to receive the A330-300 aircraft with 263 new economy class seats. “We have eagerly awaited this delivery and are pleased that our customers in economy class can experience improved products. Economy class customers can expect to enjoy a 32-inch seat pitch, 18-inch seat width, and a 9-inch personal screen with 100 movie selections,” said the president. After undergoing the ZIM seat installation for one month in Germany, the ferry flight TG8920 left Hamburg on 25 March 2011 at 11:00 am and arrived at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on 26 March 2011 at 03:00 am. This first A330-300 (of five aircraft planned for undergoing new economy class seat installation) is registered as HS-TEQ, MSN 1037, and royally bestowed as Si Ayutthaya. THAI plans to operate the A330-300 aircraft, with Business class and Economy class offerings, mainly on regional routes. The Business Class products include a shell-type seating design that has a 58-inch pitch, a 20-inch width, reclining to 170 degrees. Business Class passengers on these aircraft can enjoy the new in-flight entertainment system on a 15-inch personal screen with more than 100 movies and short programs to choose from, as well as enjoy a vast music selection of 290 CDs.
