  1. The bigger problem would be AF with its precious codeshare with QF via SIN. Perhaps when AZ takeover is finalized, they might see some senses since both KL and AZ are now partners of MH.
  2. Wow. Very 5 star response indeed
  3. I'm speechless. If anything I would expect THEM to know first.
  4. NMR, I believe KKLee was just being sarcastic On the other hand, this being Bolehland, anything could happen.
  5. This somehow reminds me on how Holywood made fun of Malaysia in Zoolander
  6. Does anyone have Jan 2008 issue of Going Places? Has Perth & Broome been rectified? A photo would be much appreciated!
  7. Funny that the person in question starts to sound like Voldemort in this forum. "He who must not be named" or "You know who"
  8. It was a joke in A.net lah. There is one Malaysian doctor who happens to live in Brighton.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if MH adds Kathmandu and Chittagong in the near future. That seems to fit well in their strategy now that they've added Lahore and Yogyakarta. Seriously, this is what a 5 star airline is meant for??!
  10. Don't forget that MH has just launched Macau and Yogyakarta. a.k.a. AK's territory. Hmm maybe Bandung is next. Didn't MH strategy is to let AK serve wherever that MH could not make it work? and now this?! It's decisions like this that makes me loose faith in MH strategy, just when i thought that they *finally* know what they're doing.
  11. Updated list Asia/OZ Malaysia Airlines Air Asia Pelangi Airways Royal Brunei Emirates Saudi Arabian Qantas Australian Airlines (pre-1993 version) Gulf Air Europe British Airways - mainline British Airways - GB Airways British Airways - Brymon Airways Olympic Airways KLM BMI Aer Lingus Easyjet Easyjet Switzerland Ryanair Monarch Airlines My Travel Lite Buzz (now becomes Ryanair) Go-Fly (now becomes Easyjet)
  12. KUL-LGW will be operated as MH7346. Possibly summer add-ons like BAH, KWI etc.
  13. I seriously question MH ongoing strategy in Europe: 1. MH could barely support a double daily to LHR while all other competing airlines are doing triple or more daily. 2. All this talk about suspending FRA. It's pathetic that MH could not even make this high-yield, business destination work. The same goes to ZRH, another key European financial capital. 3. To me, codesharing with Alitalia is a joke. Fair enough MH wants to be in AF/Skyteam good books but why split and complicates European connecting flights via multiple gateways when they could all be done via AMS which gets twice daily services? FCO is largely a leisure-based destination, there just aren't enough market to warrant even a daily service. Before we know it MH will turn into another Garuda. I for one would be happy to fly on SQ or EK to get to Europe.
  14. SQ served Hiroshima and Sendai in the past. As far as I could recall they never have scheduled services to Sapporo.
  15. Rhetorical. See first line disclaimer.
  16. Before anyone got excited that there'll be a new airline, this is just MY proposed route map. CLICK FOR FULL-SIZE VERSION I got this idea from a thread posted here few weeks ago about the lack of MH international services to Sabah. I see there is a market for a MH subsidiary to serve the largely leisure-based, low-yield but high-demand routes from BKI, KCH, PEN and LGK. This will not only provide the much-needed direct connectivity to these cities but also help consolidate all of MH mainline (largely business-oriented) routes in KUL. Destinations like FUK which apparently no longer feasible for nonstop operations from KUL could be made one-stop via BKI to cash in on the tourism market. This of course would require considerable marketing programme by Sabah Tourism, Tourism Malaysia and MH to further promote the state in Japan, China, Korea etc. PEN could once again get its international services to MAA and NRT, which have been long axed by MH. As for the routes from KUL, business destinations such as PVG and CAN are to be served by mainline MH, while leisure destinations such as Xian and Guilin are served separately [see SQ-SilkAir]. With the present MH one-size-fits-all business model, it doesn't make much sense to target both business and leisure markets on the same network, hence it doesn't surprise us when MH claim that they could not make a so-and-so destination workable despite the apparently big demand. MH could either step up to serve and expand these leisure routes, or just to let AK-AKX continue to make MH obsolete.
  17. Cartographic errors aside, why would anyone fly PER-SYD on DJ, then connect to MH SYD-KUL?? I'm all for DJ/MH codesharing on the east coast but PER seems rather strange
  18. So embarassing!!! Granted many non-OZ probably never heard of Broome but having 2 Perths is just plain stupid. Once I emailed AK webmaster about their interactive route map - Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (Senai). Johor royalty won't be pleased that Kelantan stole their airport
  19. Residents from Subang Jaya and USJ will especially be VERY vocal indeed if they decide to reopen SZB. Also, many new townships have opened up around SZB since 1997 like Bukit Jelutong, Damansara Lagenda etc - I doubt they would settle without a big fight. Subang Jaya folks are known to be very vocal about their rights, backed by their assemblymen and lawyers. My house is just minutes away from SZB and yet I do not want it to be reopened to AK. We have Firefly now. Flying to Ipoh and Penang finally makes sense again. Let AK expand their hearts out from LCCT.
  20. What a load of nonsense. AK move back to SZB, then Tiger Airways can create new hub in LCCT. Asean free skies 2009
  21. JQi complements QF nicely as low-yield leisure routes from CNS to Japan, and to HKT & DPS etc do not fit the business model of the parent QF. Similarly MH should learn a thing or two from QF, or SQ via Silkair. There is a reason why SQ flies to Nanjing but sends MI to Fuzhou instead. One-airline-fits-all model more than often just does not work! At least MH have finally seen some senses in creating MASWings and Firefly. Perhaps MH could come up with some kind of JQi-style subsidiary (hybrid LCC/full service) to cater for low-yield international flights from BKI/KCH to Japan/China/Korea (possibly from PEN/LGK too).
  22. AerLingus was asked to leave Oneworld when they transformed their european operations into a LCC. MAS is heading toward dangerous zone with this 5 star at LCC cost crap, who would want them now??
  23. Singapore is used to competition, a clear example would be QF massive operation in SIN for Kangaroo Routes. MAS je yang manja sangat...
  24. Raya abroad this year Save me some ketupat will ya
