  1.

They have ordered 20 B777-9 - they are not replacing their B77Ws one for one as the B777-9 is a larger aircraft. I think some of the existing B77W routes will be operated by the B78X and A359s.

Do note that the A359s will also have two subfleets - 20 regional configured and 7 ULR configured. SQ is now optimising their fleet for the various missions that the aircraft need to perform.

Looking forward to seeing more B78Xs joining their fleet this year!

They are already using their A350-900 on the SIN-SFO direct route as SQ31/32. Are these A359 the ULR model?

The SQ1/2 with a stop at HKG seems to be 77W at this stage.

  2. Singapore Airlines looking to deploy new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on Nagoya, Fukuoka flights

Yes, the A330-300 were only a stop gap solution for the B787 delays. So, as more of them arrive, the A330 will be phased out.

So SQ is intending to use the 787-10 on regional routes? Thought the 787-10 can fly further than regional?

  3. Fuselage cross section is a new elliptical shape, though.

Looks like it may be called 797-6 and 797-7.

Okay but just curious why they are not going back to the 787 windows....

Secondly are the cockpit windows the same for 757, 767, 777? The shape looks the same but are they essentially the same parts?

  4. Qantas uses their A332 for SYD AKL flights up from previous 737 services. The seat backs does not feature Screens but has a holder instead which can fit any camera, ipad and tablets. Then you just log on to Q streaming and access the wide library options of music, movies etc.But yesterday on the flight there was also an I pad in seat pockets for IFE access.

Those are the domestic configured 332 previously with Jetstar correct?

QF used to send some long haul 332 on the SYD-AKL-LAX route. Not sure if they still do that.

  5.

The A380-800 is certified for up to 868 passengers (538 on the main deck and 330 on the upper), achievable with a one-class configuration. Even with 700 pax, it is still some distance away from becoming a sardine can.

Imagine the amount of time it will require to unload and load all pax and baggage.....

So the early 5 birds acquired by SQ was a bit of a black sheep of the herd.... wonder if they are upgradable to become the later versions? In total how many of these black sheeps were built out of the totality of A380 production?

  6. Makes one wonder why neither manufacturer have been moved thus far to develop a short range version of their respective big mamas for the Chinese like what Boeing previously did with the 747SR and 747-400D for the Japanese market ?

Maybe A380SR or 747-8D to move the masses en masse between the more congested airports ? :)

Thats because the Japanese airlines did not order the 747-8D.... hence a non-starter. What actually replaced the 747-400D in Japan? 777-300 is getting a bit too old and 777-300ER is a bit too heavy and wasteful right?

  7. CZ utilises their A380s on domestic runs as well, between the big three class 1 cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. I really think China needs widebodies on their domestic runs...

SQ is just renewing their fleet, not ditching the entire fleet of A380s. MH is probably the first to get rid of the entire A380 fleet altogether if the sale was successful.
