Also, I was shocked after knowing that until few years ago Dubai didn't have extensive sewerage pipelines. Meaning that all those human wastes were transported by trucks to designated treatment plants. There was a video that was showing sewage trucks lined up the highway in the outskirts of Dubai. It was claimed that Burj Khalifa didn't even have the sewerage pipeline installed.

Can't be that MSA split alone that many years ago cause recent MH's predicament - his statement seems like a lame excuse. A lot of things happened since then (especially involving decision making parts) that have turn MH into what it is today. If SQ isn't managed well, it would not be as successful as it is today.

Why not Tashkent or Samarkand? Tashkent is the largest city in Central Asia. While Samarkand is well known with grand buildings dating back to Silk Route era.

Turkmenistan has quite the similarities with North Korea, according to some. Albeit, more friendly with the West.

Is this the first time a carbon composite plane completely destroyed by fire in an accident? The fuselage is literally melting and collapsing like brittle plastic!

My parents are lucky! They were among the first passengers at the inaugural flight today. My dad's notable comment is - it smells plastic😁. There was no inaugural ceremony at the gate, and no commemorative gifts. Apart from the new aircraft announcement by the crew, it was just a typical flight. I guess, if the crews didn't announced it, the passengers most probably didn't notice they were in a new aircraft at all.

I am not sure how is the prevailing pattern now, but pre-COVID there are plenty of government official and business-related travels between KUL and East Malaysia (esp. BKI and KCH), usually for meetings and to lesser extent conferences, seminars. Usually as a day trip or 2-3 nights. Make sense if the venue is at Putrajaya (nearer to KUL). Otherwise, its just too time consuming to reach KL proper, if one is not keen on staying overnight.

I would be excited if non-stop flights from East Malaysia to SZB reinstated (by any airline) as an alternative to KUL. If that happens, can potentially saves us travellers extra MYRs on ground transport to KL.

Pity, had a flight once with Z9. Could have been a tough competitor to AK. Was interested for further flights with the airline. The fare may be cheaper than the competition but the schedule and frequency on offer wasnt just right for me...so settle for AK.

The way that Sabah Air Chairman announces the plan to the media, is so...typical 'kedai kupi' talk, with plenty of, how should I say, sentimental values?

That dashcam footage tells a different perspective of aircraft behaviour in comparison with FR24 data. I mean the latter seems to show as if a controlled descent onto highway on purpose, perhaps to avoid higher casualties on the ground (purely a speculation as of this moment of course)...

One of my colleagues never knew that KLIA Transit service even exists. He always thought that ERL plies KL Sentral to KLIA non-stop. It was then when we boarded the ERL at Putrajaya station then he realized that reaching KLIA can also be done with the same train (albeit with stops).

Frankly, we don't even know what Sabah will be in the next 5-10 years. Our guesses and projections are just based on what's happening right now assuming current economic trends continues. Will having a replacement airport elevate Sabah's economy more? Similarly, some criticize Pan Borneo highway and said the money could have been spent improving rural roads. Perhaps, Kuching is the better candidate for new airport? Their economy is larger and the manufacturing sector especially in energy sector is in more stronger footing. At the end of the day, airport is just merely conduit and terminus for people and goods entering and exiting a region.

I think we have to look beyond the perimeter of the existing airport. Developers have been pushing for higher density and taller buildings in areas near the airport. KK area itself is not as wide as Greater KL. Plenty of opportunities to redevelop otherwise lower density areas into high rises especially at the city centre, where flight paths are almost right over. And then some would argue higher risk of planes so close to populated areas. Pollution some more, although aviation has made great strides in improving CO2 emissions and quieter planes.
