  1. maybe these destinations are not capable of handling e-tickets??? im just guessing, but it could be the case.
  2. wow, do they have a brand new A320 with a new livery with the disabled symbol? From Thestar Online
  3. Yes it is for real, starting 18 July. 3 times weekly. 499 Pesos is equivalent to RM39 excluding tax and surcharge... I tried mock booking, can't get 499 Pesos, all of them are shown to be 999 Pesos, and after adding tax its 2471 Pesos (RM193) one way. Not sure whether this is cheap or not, and have not tried to compare with other airlines. Well, at least some airlines still try to expand, but financial wise, has Cebu Pacific been profitable? I wonder...
  4. Another one just ceased its operation end of March 2008, Freedom Air, an LCC from Air New Zealand.
  5. Author's impression on the event from NST NST SEPANG: There was mayhem outside the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 7.50pm yesterday when four gunmen opened fire on two moneychangers and their bodyguard before escaping with almost RM3.5 million. The shoot-out, which lasted for about five minutes, left five injured. They were moneychangers Muhamad Fadzil Amanullah Khan, 20, and Bukhari Abdullah, 22, their armed guard Ahmad Suhaime Mohd Yussop, 49, an off-duty policeman, Lance Corporal Zainudin Mat Isa from Putrajaya, and a Nepalese contract worker, 29-year-old Lal Bahadur Shres. The gunmen had ambushed the moneychangers who were on their way to meet another moneychanger who had arrived from Singapore. The moneychangers, from Kuala Lumpur, were carrying S$1.5 million (RM3.5 million) in one bag. The victims got down from the vehicle and were walking towards the departure hall when the four gunmen appeared, two in front and two at the back. Without a word, they opened fire. The armed escort returned fire but was shot in the leg along with the moneychangers. Sepang police chief Superintendent Zahedi Ayub said they believed none of the gunmen was hit. Most of them victims were shot in the legs. The gunmen coolly walked up to them, took the bag and left in two vehicles, believed to be a BMW and a Toyota Hilux. Roadblocks were set up around KLIA within 15 minutes of the incident but at press time, no suspects were detained. Zahedi said the gunmen struck as soon as the victims got out of their vehicles at the driveway outside Gate 7 of the departure area. "The victims were attacked from the front and behind," Zahedi said. "The Nepalese was caught in the crossfire. He was a contract worker who was being sent to the airport by a friend." The off-duty policeman was sending his friend off when he was also caught in the crossfire. When the drama ended, the driveway was strewn with bullet casings, some lying about 25 metres from the scene. Several glass panels at Gates 7 and 8 were also shattered. Witnesses identified the gunmen as having dark complexion. Two accomplices were waiting for them in the getaway vehicles. --- From Malay Mail Malay Mail perspective
  6. This year is gotta be the worst year for airlines. We have Skybus, Adam Air, Alitalia (near bankruptcy), and now Oasis Hong Kong. (Did I miss any other airlines?) Sad, as Oasis Hong Kong is still very young.
  7. HEY!!!! They have just increased the Admin Fee!!! For destinations: Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh From RM25 to Rm26.50 Shenzen From RM42 to RM45 Other destinations From RM21 to RM22.50 This is cheating!!!! I thought they will reduce this fee once the baggage fees are implemented, not the other way around!!!
  8. This is a reality of LCC. We have been forwarned a couple of months ago about this checked-in fees. Some people say, the RM3 if "tutup mata" likened to a fuel surcharge la, only this time you may have to pay more careful in the number of bags, or else pay more. Sigh. One can't stop comparing the other LCCs who have done this namely Ryanair and Easyjet. Ryanair's website is in itself look cheap and troublesome, sometimes whenever I want to proceed for the next step, it always timed out. Don't know who to design it but sometimes even the website looks not safe. Airport Check in - 3 pounds/RM19 1 baggage + airport check in - 9 pounds/RM57 2 baggage + airport check in - 21 pounds/RM134 The increment is scary, coz its more then doubled. This is ridiculous. and the total combined weigh is 15KG!!! It makes AirAsia's baggage fees look like nothing. Easyjet's website looks a bit like Jetstar, even their combined total baggage is 20KG (the same as Jetstar's). I don't see any option for airport check in fees. For the add ons fee: Easy boarding - 7.5 pounds/RM48 1 baggage - 5 pounds/RM32 2 baggage - 10 pounds/RM64 (looks more reasonable here compared to Ryanair) Both airlines do not have prepurchase food option though. But after comparing these fees to us, we should be grateful that AirAsia's fees are not high. It is just inevitable as LCC has to do this to survive. Jetstar has introduced Jetstar Lite, and I am sure it will not be long for Tiger to introduce similar approach. Fly full service airline if you don't like the headache I guess.
  9. You're totally right man, sorry, din't read it carefully.
  10. Read back the FAQ for AirAsia baggage above, its 15kg per bag, so if you have 3 bags, its 3x15 kg max. You can prepurchase 3 bags, or if you want more bags to check in, you have to pay RM5 for additional bags (with additional 15 kg per bag also la).
  11. Ha Ha... Told ya to be careful with the website.... I shouldve known about this earlier or I would book already.
  12. Let us look at the other point of view on the snack box. someone actually impressed with it. http://mossmx5.wordpress.com/2008/03/20/mas-i-am-impressed/ </h2>

    This is bad

Ewan, what a nice poster u have. GANAS? I think PANAS would be much better, P as in Pergerakan, and PANAS as in, we demand HOT meals!
  20. If they really want to display that xtensive network in the magazine, they should first display all of the destinations where codeshare partners go, and available for booking. For instance, SIN-KUL route, in SQ website, you can see a total of 13 flights a day that SQ and MH flies, and you can book the MH flight direct from the website. While in MH website, it only shows 7 exclusive MH flights, blinding their SQ partner. How could they proudly display the network, when you cannot book the codeshare partners online. Will the codeshare partners happy with this arrangement?
  21. Guys, I am not so sure which categories this blogpost supposed to fall into, I let those with authority decide. I found this story quite hilarious. And I am by no means trying to bash MAS, just something to ponder. http://crazy4planes.blogspot.com/2008/02/m...eed-toilet.html
  22. That shouldnt be a problem, there are many slots empty for Australian carriers to KUL (as they have reciprocating rights with Malaysian carriers for designated Malaysia-Australia routes)
