Don't worry, The Star made a mistake in their news report. They acknowledged their mistake on their website today saying LIMA will indeed be held from the 1st to the 5th of December.

I think I'll wait for Firefly to receive their brand new ATR 72-500s before flying with them. They might have less problems (flight delays & cancellations) when they start flying their ATRs.

Capt. Patricia Yapp is the first female Mig29 pilot in TUDM. The first ever female fighter pilot in TUDM is Lieutenant Colonel Emilia Kamaruddin. She received her wings in 1988 and the aircrafts she used to pilot were Pilatus PC-7, Aermacchi MB339, Skyhawk, Hawk and Aerotiga MD3. Some pictures of her:- Back then.... Now....

Rumour: MH to Cut Inflight Meals Beginning 1 October 2007
izhar replied to Mohd Azizul Ramli's topic in General Aviation
MAS light meal box is in the news today in The Star newspaper. It seems the new light meal boxes were on trial and will end on the 31st of December. After that they'll make a decision on whether to continue serving them in flights. You can read the news here -
I agree, for the sake of convenience, the government should allow SZB to be used by MH and AK for domestic flights. Exactly!
-
I don't think the government would approve SZB to be turned into an LCC Hub and allow AK to fly out from there. Not after having built the LCCT at KLIA with plans to expand the terminal in the future. It would kill firefly if AirAsia were to operate at Subang. Nobody would want to fly on a propeller aircraft (Firefly) if a jet aircraft (AirAsia) flies to the same destination. This would contradict the government's stated desire for both MAS and AirAsia to improve and grow in a healthy competition instead of one growing at the expense of the other (this is difficult if not impossible). However, anything can happen in the future, especially here in Malaysia a.k.a 'bolehland'.

I would definitely try firefly once they receive their new atr 72-500s.

This brings back a lot of fond memories for me. I remember flying from Subang to Kota Bharu on one of these with my mom in the 80s. For the whole duration of the flight I would sit there absolutely terrified of the spinning propeller blades. I always imagined that one of the blades would somehow break-off and pierce the fuselage, causing the aircraft to crash. I also remember hanging out at the huge open-air viewing area/platform which ran for quite some length of the main terminal building (now demolished). The parked aircraft and the runway were directly in front of the viewing area. The highlight for me was when they would pushback the aircraft, start the engines and taxi to the runway. When that happened, not only can you hear the ear-splitting noise of the jet engine, you could also feel the vibration from the sound waves and smell the jet fumes. I was only seven or eight years old then and that experience caused me to fall in love with aviation. . Those were really good times.

According to the official LIMA 2007 website, the Red Arrows will be making an appearance in Kuala Lumpur before LIMA 2007 kicks-off in Langkawi. You guys can look it up under the 'official programme' link on the website. Information taken from the website:- Date - 29th November 2007 (Thursday) Programme - "Special appearance of RAF Red Arrows in Kuala Lumpur" Venue - Subang / KL / Putrajaya I wonder if they are going to put on a full aerobatic display like they did in SZB (just before LIMA 2003). I can't imagine them executing all those risky maneuvers over KL. Maybe they'll do a series of flybys over KL. What do you guys think?

Any updates on the arrival date of the an-225?

I just had a look at the official website of lima2007 (www.lima2007.com). Some of the aircraft listed for the static display are as follows - SU-30MKM, Mig-29 VT, Lockheed F-35!, F-22 Raptor!, Eurofighter Typhoon, etc. Some of the aerobatic display teams listed for the airshow - Red Arrows, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Russian Knights, RMAF, F-18, Mig-29, Su-30. Is this for real? Because if it is, I'm staying in Langkawi for the whole duration of the exhibition. I'll be broke by the end of the week though, Langkawi is such an expensive place to be in during LIMA.
